Cripes, imagine living in those nearby residential areas. That's brutally depressing.
Don't worry, in C:SL you will be able to install noise barricades on highways to reduce noise pollution

from a environmental and a city-planning perspective. European cities crap all over North American ones IMHO.
The Frontage Road junction looks very effective in urban areas [but only with merging lanes]

Or something like these.

The only game I think could create these types of interchanges with a smooth accurate flexibility is CiM2. It has the best road and rail system that I've ever seen in any builder games. Let's hope Cities Skylines can deliver the same.
Merging lanes would be great! +1
I already picked my favourite interchanges

I have to test which one works better. They don't look super exciting, but I want to build as effective as possible.
My favourite junction:

The most awesome one is the turbine, but it's kinda hard to build with perfect proportions.

It can be done with the 3 lane highway in the middle, using 2 lane on way road for frontage road when it as two lane, and ramp for the connexion.
I personnally love thise on, and will try to reproduce it!

I spotted the german in this threadyes, those are standard intersections, very common, easy and effective.
Edit: and to say something productive: I would change the up/down pattern from the turbine, to make it easier - one of the highways should be elevated for the whole time, so you only need 2 different layers of height

A bit of Spaghetti Junction can't go amiss in these discussions. Works perfectly if you know where you're going.
Amen brother. Merging lanes would be super cool.
I haven't seen any dev respond to any questions about improvements to the traffic system over CiM2. Have I just missed it? The lack of merging lanes definitely stinks!
BOOM.. This already looks good but imagine how great it'd be with merging lanes.

The version Devotion posted right?
