It was such a great story I decided I'd try it myself. Built all the services and two houses, that was it. Oh and a bus line to serve the two houses and stops outside all the service buildings. A family of four moved into the one, 2 adults and 2 children. A couple moved into the other.
First thing I noticed the service buildings function even though there is no workers as such. The police patrol and when the tax office caught fire 5 fire trucks turned up at once! Everyone was healthy so never saw anyone visit the hospital.
Family 1 with the 2 children had one more child as one became a teenager. Father worked at the tax office and never became educated throughout his life. Family 2 had 2 children after moving in. The father worked at the bus company. Now if this is by chance or some sneaky tongue in cheek design, all adults and kids took the bus to work or school, except the employee at the bus company, he always took the car!
Life went on, tourists popped up to visit the parks, I put a small one next to the houses but only ever saw one of the residents visit it.
Family 1 were the first couple to retire, 2 seniors and 2 young adults. Then the young adults suddenly up sticks and left, presumably for a better town

Leaving their parents in the house alone.
Family 2 however were a little more adventurous, after the adults became seniors and one child was now an adult and the other a teenager they decided to have another! So we have 2 seniors, 1 young adult and one teenager and one child.
Time marched on, one of the seniors in Family 1 died but never appeared in the graveyard. The death showed up on the city statistics but never in the graveyard. Buried under the floorboards perhaps?
Family 2 too lost one senior who did get buried. The 2 older children became young adults and then moved away, leaving one senior and one teen.
Eventually the last survivor of Family 1 died and was buried in the graveyard. A new family moved in soon after.
And of course the last senior of Family 2 finally died leaning the surviving child in the house, now a young adult. Again they didn't appear in the graveyard, odd?
City statistics reveal 4 deaths but only 2 are buried locally, maybe buried in their town of origin, odd that one from each family is not buried locally though.
The young adult in family 2 finally became an adult. He worked at the fire station for a brief spell then he was gone.....
Another family moved in and the cycle continued.....
Not an exciting story I know but it gave me a real feel for the game rather than the constant struggle to balance budgets and satisfy the residents every whim....
