Whilst Europe is a perfect setting for a character based game like CK2 or a Nation based one like EU4, I think that China is even more so.

China has a long, bloody and interesting history and just one of the periods would make a perfect game setting. Take the warring states period in Chinas history. Here is a time-lapse to give you an idea.

Then again what about the turbulent "3 Kingdoms" period. These 3 kingdoms locked in combat with each other. The yellow turban revolt and other such events could add extra flavour. Here is a video that explains the era briefly.

Whilst EU4 does touch on China briefly I think that a Chinese set game is much needed. Even a side title such as Sengoku and March of the Eagles would be much appreciated.

Sengoku didn't sell well at all, and it would be the same with a Chinese-based game.

Your best bet is a DLC in the vein of Divine Wind for EU3, which touched China/Japan.

I seem to remember 'Fate of the Dragon' by 'Overmax Studios' being quite popular at the time.
A Mount and Blade type game could work really well:
Choose your side or become a warlord and go to war for control of The World.

Tbh I didn't mind sengoku. I sank about 15 hours into it and found it pretty enjoyable. Id rather see a game solely based in china/Korea then one like eu3

Woah! I didn't expect -anyone- to know/remember that one. I actually liked its gameplay, shame it wasn't taken further.

I wonder if with the development of paradox as a company whether a game like Sengoku 2 would do well with some targetted marketing at Japan itself... Then again a CK3 with Asia would make more sense.

Chinese technology of that period was fascinating they even had gliders, achieving flight long before the west.
There was a second game planned, (it died) and I believe you may be able to download the Alpha/Beta from the places.
