Hi, I'm not too familiar with writing script events for this game, but while doing some research from WWII i found an interesting piece of info thats not represented in the game(at least not in any version ive played) and i was wondering if writing such a sript was possible, since it has some strange circumstances(in my opinion, which isnt very valid in this field)
anyway...in 1945, while Japan has control of indochina, the french organize a counter-invasion to thier colony. Japan, seeing its control over the region slip, names Norodom Sihanouk the new Cambodian Khmer and pulls out of the south-west portion of indochina. The French quickly took Camboia in thier campaign...but who says that would happen every time?

would someone be so kind to write such a script, if possible? giving japan a choice to set up a puppet in the for cambodian provinces...i think it would be cool to add to the game..

Well Im kinda new to event writing too, but hey i'd like to give it a shot. If you could just give me a link to the info you found (if it was a website) I can go ahead and get started, otherwise I can just look up the info myself. Might be a couple days before I can finish, because like I said, I'm kinda new at this. Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

For you to make an event that releases Cambodia as a puppet, there has to be a country tag for Cambodia... I'm not sure there is.

After you've conquered Indochina, open the diplomacy screen as Japan and there should be an option "liberate country." Look at that list to see if Cambodia is there.

It would be a welcome event,... don't be afraid to ask in the CORE forum. I think they're working on new order events for the near post-war time frame. :)

There's an "Indochina" tag which has the Vietnamese flag (there was never a nation of "Indochina"), so you need to make one yourself. Also, wasn't most of Cambodia occupied by Thailand until 1947?

i dont no about that thai thing...i got this from encarta, they said in 45 the khmer was set up, but it quickly fell. it could have been put in the hands of the thai

and sorry about the tag, i could hav sworn there was one...how do flags and stuff work in this game? i know EU and where to get flags and shields..does it work the same for hoi? is a cambodian template already available somewehre?

Are you sure you've never heard about it? The Thai's (with the help of the Japanese) fought a short war against the Vichy French and in return got parts of Laos and Cambodia.

During World War II (1939-1945), when Japanese forces entered Indochina in 1940, they left in place the compliant French administration. On the verge of defeat in 1945, the Japanese removed their French collaborators and installed a nominally independent Khmer government under the young king, Norodom Sihanouk. France quickly reestablished control after the war, but Sihanouk gained full independence for his country in 1953.

Trigger ideas?

Ok I'm starting it, but I'm not really sure what I should make the requirements for triggering it. I was thinking maybe it happens after japan looses its islands in the Pacific. It'll take way too long if it triggers after Japan's out of China (And unhistorical). Anyway anyone have an idea? Hey and just so ya know I'm also in the process of writing some End of War events for Japan including the atemted coup after Japan began the surrender in late August. Ill probably post that sometime.

One other thing what event numbers are unused in 1.06, without any mods? Also when creating a new country in the events folder, would I just make a text flie called "u01" (thats what I'm using for Cambodia)?

Thanks for that article Semi-Lobster. That fighting is modeled in CORE. :) Unfortunately, you're forced to accept only certain provinces after a set amount of time.

Yes I didn't make it seo I didn't really have control over it. This afternoon I'll mention that the territory given should be based on territory captured, not "Get 2/3's of Cambodia and Northern Laos", it's rather silly how it's done actually

I don't really know what can and can't be done for triggers, but the pacific islands sounds like a good idea. the whole reason for the puppet-state was because they were loosing control of the area. i think that Allies at Japan's front door would cause a loss of control

any other suggestions?

Yes that sounds good... either based on losing some islands close to Japan or figure out someway to check that they have captured and then lost provinces on the mainland (which I dunno is possible). Obviously, if GB is able to annex Siam, then Cambodia would be next so Japan would have the option to liberate it then. It would have a short life though (as in real life) as soon as the GB troops advanced.

The other thing to realize now is that I don't think Cambodia has any resources to support its industry/troops. If you liberate it, you would have to set up a supply convoy otherwise their troops would be at 0 org.

Ok great ideas. I didn't event think of GB annexing Siam, thats a good trigger too. Anyway I'm gonna post some finished work later today I hope. Theres gonna be a couple things to add for it to work right.
