Eventually I'd like to see all characters playable through DLC, so maybe a combined trade/republic DLC, a theocracy DLC, and an Eastern religion DLC that would give us pagans, Zoroastrians, and proper Jews.

I don't see how any of those ideas are "bigger", but they're all good.

Dream a little bigger as in, dream something that's not a familiar idea. The cadet branches has been around, as I admit. But the only person I'm aware of having written about major/minor dynasties is me! And I think I may be the only person who in an old post really set out what the cadet branch pack might include and what it might look like.

There are a million things that could improve or enhance the game. We've all got unique interests, different bases of knowledge, and different ways of looking at the world. There are so many great ideas out there. It kills me to see a thread like this where everyone says the only ideas they want are the ones other people already dreamed up and set forth. Sure, let's do those. Plus. I want to know the interesting new ideas folks have and aren't sharing.

Warrior women. Joan d'Arc I'm guessing? Could be interesting. What would be in it?

Women leading armies. A majority of people wanted it in vanilla in my poll, about 30% wanted it for modding, maybe 5-10% didn't want paradox to touch the idea with a 10 feet stick. A DLC with it fully implemented, instead of sticking to their plans with making it open for modding and modding only, would be a good compromise imo.

Including new gfx, and relationship system for female rulers and their vassals.

1) I want the ability to Knight some members of my court just for flavour, for example you could give a Duke say 10 'Sir' titles to hand out, a King 20.

Something similar to the game of thrones kingsguard would be cool where members of your realm become members of your personal guard and there could be some events surrounding that whole relationship.

2) Already stated a million times but a catholicism DLC, redone Pope and a College of Cardinals, also really pious characters and vice-free characters having the (rare) chance to become a Saint, also Martyrs. The ability to find holy relics to be found which various things can be done with? Donate to a church to get a piety boost and increase income to that church from pilgrims, or just hand them down from generation to generation for a piety boost but maybe the pope can keep hassling you for them etc.

Pagans/Zoroastrians w/ Mongols- Adds some tribal mechanics, like nomadic society.
That would be a huge opportunity to fill in blank areas of the map such as Siberia and the Sahara/Sahel - Sparsely populated lands with few resources, difficult to develop as a feudal power base, but useful for nomadic cultures. Since we have Mongols, we should have Berbers.

Indeed. DLCs are not substitutes for patches
Much of what was intended for LoR was put into patch 1.07

The HRE needs serious fixing. It's way too powerful as is.
It's pretty powerful as it was. Took Napoleon to put it down once and for all.

Someone suggested a Zheng He DLC, though I would see that more as a patch item for a late game event along Arabian and Horn of Africa provinces - Ruler gets a message of a great fleet, events trigger for diplomatic exchanges of gifts that gain some prestige and a small cultural tech boost but cost a LOT of money, with the possibility upon rejection that you get a Ming doomstack in exchange for the insult.

My vote would be for an expansion of the nomadic societies, coupled with an extension of the map over more of Eurasia.

Other than the big pagan/theocracy/republic DLCs, which if I remember the Devs said they'll get to around eventually, I thought the Aztec DLC, while ahistorical, did show that the devs were interested and more than capable of making smaller, minor DLCs that don't count as major DLCs. I hope that later minor DLCs also are a bit more historically focused, and that, ideally, these minor DLC focus on different regions and improve gameplay there. In other threads, I have already made some of these suggestions:

1. Iberia - focus on improving the balance of power between the Christians and Muslims; a Reconquista mechanic for Christian powers, but also a way for Christians and Muslims to show their tolerance (as was possible historically), possibly through some sort of slider or at least through event; and other events focusing on this region
2. Zoroastrianism - I think several fans also like this idea, and it would be perfect for a minor DLC, possibly mechanics for how a player (or lucky AI) might resurrect the Zoroastrian faith
3. Celtic World - focus on flavor and gameplay changes to the Celtic nations - for instance, a more difficult (and realistic?) way to divide fractured Ireland, representation of the monasteries, etc.
4. West Africa - implement the Saharan trade routes, the gold mines, the slave raids, etc., and other flavor stuff and events for West Africa - maybe even more provinces - to make that part of the world a bit more interesting
5. East Africa - balance things out so the Ethiopians and Nubians don't get wiped out, introce the baqt somehow, other game mechanics, flavor, and events
6. Nomad/Turks - nomads and Turks have to choose between keeping their traditional nomadic ways or adopting the cultures or ideas of the conquered (so the Persians in the case of the Turks and Mongols), this might make an interesting conflict
7. Ottoman Empire - I like them, and while it's a late game start, perhaps some additions to siege equipment, the decline of the Byzantine Empire, and the rise of the Anatolian Turks might be interesting
8. Renaissance - extending the playdate by a couple of decades, and introducing mechanics and flavor to represent the Italian Renaissance and for the city-states' struggle
9. Hanseatic Leage - self-explanatory for those who know what it is

And so on. I think minor DLC with a regional-focus would be really fun, because if my impressions of the Aztec DLC are correct, the devs won't need to actually make anything that substantial like Sword of Islam - maybe introduce just one minor mechanic or two for the region in questoin, throw in some flavor elements like titles and events, maybe balance things out a bit, and voila, you got a nice little DLC that doesn't take up too much but adds so much.

In short, I think minor DLC might be a great way to improve various regions of the game without having to resort to huge catch-all DLCs.

Obviously, DLCs would mean important part of history :

So, for those you already said :
Republics
Pagans
Catholic church
Focus on Spain
Longer timeline (From 1054, 1000 or why not 800 or even the birth of Islam?)
Playable nomads
HRE (election and coronation of the Emperor, Antiemperor named by the Pope)
Trade and feudal economy (I'm pretty sure someone said something about that at some point)
Lacking culture/religions (Jews, for example)

Some ideas of mine (you may already said them, I refer myself to th eother threads) :
Decline of the Byzantine empire and 4th crusade (because LoR is absolutely not heading this way)
The ability to turn on/off some feature (decadence, factions, retinues, etc, although I like them for my part)
The ability to turn off some new ahistorical empires/kingdoms or to create new ones
Better representation of realm law (split the CA and succession changes into something else)
Diplomacy (give back, with necessary tweaks, the ability to change a war) (although I don't think it could be a DLC since everything would be affected)
Russia (Allow for the orthodox to survive as vassals of the Mongols, and not simpy be wiped out)

Probably would be just a minor DLC, but I'd love to see a pack of culturally accurate titles. for example: make Irish dukes 'Kings' and their kings 'High Kings'/make Norwegian dukes 'Jarls'. I guess the main reason for something like that being DLC is that not everyone would necessarily want it.

Big difference. Those are fantasy worlds, while CK2 goes to great lengths to try and recreate history.

No it doesn't. CK2 goes to great lengths to create alternate histories that never happened nor is there any plausible way many of them could have happened.

Or perhaps you play in a mod where Zoroastrian Venetian holy wars for Connacht are disabled?

You might want to read the thread first.

My intention was to speak not to the events that develop in game, but the tableau offered to you in the available start dates. Yes it doesn't take very long for things to get wildly ahistorical, but it's not like anyone will be matching retinues of pew pew lazor jetpack commandos against primitives with little more than sharpened sticks. In my experience that's rather common with certain strategy games.

I agree; and why not? The Abbasids fought the Tang dynasty in the 8th century. If we're playing an alternate history game, no reason later Chinese dynasties couldn't return.

2. Major/Minor Dynasty DLC. I've written about this one before. I want each dynasty to get ranked as petty, minor, common, major, and great. I want their dynasty shields to get different frames based on their prestige, just like characters do when they move in rank. And it want it to be dynamic, where dynasty rank rises and falls based on their current status. And the game starts keeping track of relationships between dynasties -- who hates who over time. And maybe even have minor dynasties become tributaries to major ones (the GOT guys would love that for banneren). Characters get bonuses for belonging to better dynasties. There are new events based on the prestige and relationships between dynasties.

This is supposed to be a dynasty game. And the darn ledger doesn't even list dynasty prestige. It lists stats of rulers and countries. Let's get some real attention to dynasties as dynasties.

3. Cadet Branches. Okay, I said that already. And this one is commonly mentioned. But it's really needed. So I'm going to mention it again. Far distant relatives need to break out to form their own dynasties. Half-way into the game, everyone on the map belongs to three dynasties. It's historical, but in real life those three dynasties would have split into 30 different major and minor houses. This would make your real dynasty mean something. And stop your ability to spam your dynasty all over the map. Plus there needs to be events where dynasty members demand things from you -- money and titles -- so more dynasty members mean more demands, not just more people with little blood drops on their picture.

I would beg Paradox to take my money if they did this kind of Dynasty DLC. It could also be bundled with grumphie's ideas to influence dynasty member's important decisions, like marriages, and blood feuds betweens dynasties.

Oh also, earlier start dates would rock.

Merchants, bankers and Champagne fairs for one. Silk and spices trade routes too.
It's not easy but then Republics can be made playable.
No Republics without Guelphs and Ghibellines in HRE though (and in my opinion and games, some more internal crisis and politica tension in HRE woudl'nt hurt).

About pagans: I see a problem, same problem met whith SoI. The western world ended more or less with middle east.
Obviously though, for the eastern people, it was much bigger. Could the map become larger?

Now I'm going OT.
Finally, better interface! Why I have to spend hours searching in the general characters section for people to invite?
Why I have to look for a wife outside the specific search list? Something must be possible or not. Making annoying the search is not a solution. And the ledger should be useful, with dinastical and relations info. And a map with ducal territories like the one you have in the starting screen.

Norse DLC that introduce a earlier starting date (in the 900) and let you to either lead or defend against the viking raids and invasions. Can you save your home from the wild northmen? Or will you play as a raider yourself and try to get powerful through conquest, pillage or trade? Will you keep to the Old Gods or embrace the Catholic faith? Odin or "Vitekrist", the choice is yours.
