I for one surely intend for the Regia Marina to supplant the Royal Navy! And therby providing calm seas for the Germans to cross the channel under protection from glorious Italian ships!

I also agree to stalling as much as we can until we are ready. I do think that I will direct the Italian industry to focus on Naval and air production while trying not to let the army get under supplied.

Being neighbors, and assuming my Führer avoids carelessly opening too many fronts, Germany pledges to support Italy's efforts in the Balkans should you require extra boots on the ground. We should use our close proximity to any advantage we can Admiral.

Doubtless, we will toast delicious Italian wine as we embark across the channel under the cover of your floating fortresses!

I was planning to use Central italy as the place for the civilian factories, while using the North of Italy to build synthetic oil refineries and the military factories.
And in the south and along the coast maximize the amount of docyards. Once the balkans and turkey ar under Italian control i will expand my Military production there.

What are the Japanese thoughts on India and Oceania?

We suggest the mainland be divided between Germany and Italy, as a spiritual restoration of both the Roman and Saxon occupation of the Island. Ireland my Führer asks be given its northern territory back and granted full independence. They are no threat to us, and have suffered much injustice under British rule, and we think this move will do wonders for our appearance in the eyes of the world.

Ill Duce has accepted the Fuhrers proposal for the partitioning of England in an Italian an German part.
He does have the question however, if the Generallisimo might not want for the Catholic Irish to be part of his lands.
He will support whatever decision is made concerning Ireland.

The Isles of Crete and Malta will be, for the duration of the war, after being taken, available for German use.

(btw I am so looking forward to this game now it's hard to wait another three months )

Germany welcomes our Finnish brothers in arms! because our strategy will be to delay the Soviets, we cannot pledge you our fullest support immediately should the Red Menace turn his greedy expansionist eyes towards you before we are ready. Equipment will be given, but at the present we cannot promise Volunteers. If, however you can stall the Reds into a humiliating treaty, we offer you additional territory from Leningrad all the way to Arkhangelsk when the time comes for revenge. More of course is negotiable, as the first nation into the fray, and we gladly welcome a 4th front

Regarding Sweden, Germany casually reminds you of how you were once subjects of the Swedes, and wonders if you feel the time has come for a total, Finnish occupation of the former overlords hmmm? The Führer only asks for Gotland, as it will make a wonderful bunker in the Baltic Sea.

We sat down in one of his dozen bunkers and hashed it out. What we might do is ship the Finns some new, never before seen tanks and equipment, so nobody can point and say 'Hey, aren't those German?' Because technically, the Finns used them first sooooooo... No, no they are not, we pinky swear

Thank you Il Duce, but this will not be necessary. We are aware of our limitations in comparison to yourselves, and do not wish to overextend. Especially given the strategic and resource irrelevance of Ireland.

I thought it would be nice if I shared my thoughts for the development of the Italian armed forces:

(disclaimer: this might change in the future)
Most important first: Navy
I was thinking of starting out by building battleships, some cruisers, destroyers. As long as I am constrained to the mediteranean I can use landbased aircover for most of the sea.
Once the Mediteranean is secured however I intend to switch battleship production to Carriers so i can better assist in the pacific war. I will therefore probably choose carrier focus.
I don't think I will really upgrade my battleships unless the battle for the mediteranean takes too long. I'll probably leave submarine warfare in the capable hands of the Kriegsmarine.

Army:
Primary role for the army is to capture the islands in the mediteranean and conquer and garrison the middle east and afrika. Since tanks are little use in naval landings and breakdown in the desert I will not be producing lots of them. I will try to develop high end, low tier tanks for use in russia (for example: a upgraded 1936 tank as wel as it's AT variant), but for most of the Afrika campaign i'm thinking about cavalry. After the conquest of Afrika and the middle East the Army wil specialize for Mountain combat in the Caucasus and Marines for establishing beach heads which our numerous allies can then use for landing.

Air-force:
As long as the battle for the mediteranean hasn't been won I will focus on landbased airsuperiority and naval bombers.
Then develop carrier based planes and use this to project Italian power in support of her allies and naval invasions overseas!

To be honest there hasn't been any discussion yet about what day(s) we play.
I think it's also a bit soon to start picking a day and time because release is still 3 months away.

As for what nation to play Romania might be a good one
Most 'naturally' axis have been taken i think.

I like the idea of fascist france , but it is really powerfull to have the European big 4 (Germany, Italy, France, Spain) working together :S
however i do think that in france you have to fight a civil war to go fascist, so that might balance it.
Going as Belgium should be ok.
