Admins, please make this sticky.
If you do not know what IRC is, it's a chat client. You can download mIRC at www.mirc.com or www.mirc.org. It's not a very big program, and it demands hardly any memory. When you have downloaded and installed, add this server: irc.barrysworld.com. Call it whatever you want, I just call it Barry. Then fill out the information about your name (you don't have to write autenthic stuff, mine just has an URL in it) E-mail and nickname. The nickname is the name which you will be seen as when you connect. Now press connect. When connected, write /join #europauniversalis . Then you should be connected. For now there are not many people in the room, so please do not give the room up, because there are not many people in it.
Basic IRC stuff:
If you see a guy with an @ at his name, that means he is an "op". He can kick and ban people from the channel. He can also change the topic, and op other people. He can also voice them.
If you see someone with a "v" at his name, that means he is voice. Voice doesn't do much. The only thing it infact does, is that you can talk whenever +m is enabled. +m is a mode the ops can make, so only ops and voices can talk. This is usefull if they have something important to tell the community.
You can also press /me and then write something. Example:
/me turns on the light
becomes
/UnSounder turns on the light
As UnSounder is my IRC name.
There, that should do it. Now you should be ready for IRC
