I ve been looking the previews in youtube and they are all GREAT! I just cant wait to play the game...
However is it possible to see a video about Byzantine Empire? As a player who enjoyed playing as a Count/Prince/Emperor of Byzantine Empire in CKI i d love to see how Byzantine Empire is portrayed in CKII... And especially how the Patriarch of Constantinople is handled (i always resented the fact that the Patriarch was absent from CKI).

As ParadoxianLP said above me, the Patriarch is like the pope, but a vassal of the Byzantine Emperor. I'd also appeal to the Let's Player above me to do his live stream with some sort of Byzantine State, as there aren't much in the way of previews for them.

I d love to see a preview... About how he is elected, if the Emperor has something to say about his election or his deposition etc.
Also a Byzantine preview will give us an insight about how the Empire and Orthodoxy are represented in the game...

Plus i always wanted to ask how the Pope is elected? Is there a conclave of Cardinals (in reality Pope Nicholas II in 1060s instituted that the Pope should be elected by Cardinals) and if the various catholic monarchs have any means to influence the election.

Well, only the Holy Roman Empire should have much control over the Papacy. Historiclly, they clashed all the time. Also, I think we may probe into what sort of Coptic Pope there should be. (Perhaps a Patriarch of Alexandria? But Alexandria is still controlled by muslims... grumble....grumble.) But yes, i'd love to see A Byzantine Preview. ParadoxianLP did a short AAR about his plot to take over the H.R.E., so we have there mechanics, but the same does not apply to the Byzantines. I'm sure Paradox put in some cool mechanics there, too.

Thus far there is no Coptic Pope because there is no separate Coptic branch of Christianity.

Copts are Orthodox heretics. Which is accurate from a Greek or Roman Catholic point-of-view, because the Copts rejected the Chalcedonian Creed, but is also not correct according to the Copts.

While it's clearly an over-simplification, and probably something that will be changed in the very first widely accepted mod, it also makes sense. The game is about simulating the high nobility of Christian Europe, with a strong focus on Catholic, feudal states. The Pope in Alexandria didn't have any interaction with any Christian High Nobility outside of Ethiopia, and in Ethiopia he doesn't seem to have been a major political player. His Archbishop (the Abun) may have been more important politically, but it's difficult to say because we have virtually no written records from Ethiopia in that period.

Granted if King Louis IX's seventh Crusade had gone better the Alexandrian Pope would have been a player, but I'm not sure even in that case he would have been an individual who needed to be cultivated by the new King. More likely the new King would simply accept a Catholic Bishop as rightful Pope, and the old hierarchy's interactions with the state could be perfectly simulated by increased Revolt Risk or it's equivelent.

I can accept most of your points, but it seems Coptics like Nubia, Abyssinia, and some state I saw in a preview whose name escapes me at the moment, are all playable. Some flavor should be added, as they are playable, unlike Muslims where Paradox has that easy excuse. Now we are getting OT here though, so I think I'll just start a new thread about it.

The Pope in Alexandria was historically somewhat important for Ethiopia since he appointed the Abuna (highest religious authority in Ethiopia), however his power ended there. When the Abuna arrived in Ethiopia he was the one in charge of the church, and usually he did not correspond much with Alexandria.

Check out the new LP by paradoxianlp. The one that was livestreamed earlier today (I'm watching it now). He plays a Byzantine count. He also says the Byzzies start with high crown authority (little freedom for vassals).
