Well so does our illustrious narrator! Anyway, it wouldn't be an EU AAR without some 300 year old people somewhere :p .

When my grandmother learned that my parents were naming me Patrick, she was rather unhappy, having heard of a gangster back in the early part of the 20th Century by that name. A friend in grad school found bits and pieces of "my" life story, and would post them on my office door, claiming that I really was that gangster (frex, abandoning my wife c.1890). I bet no one on this board has a better sounding autobiography, though: Spreading Evil: Pat Crowe's Life Story (or was it ...'s Autobiography?) And in college some gaming friends logically proved that I (and only I) was immortal.

in which we clear our Alliances page

On 30 Mar 1653 we make use of what may well be the last CB Russia ever has [well, actually, the next (first:p ) time I call on ally Burgundy, we'll have another:rolleyes: ] and declare war on Nippon. Early the next morning news arrives of revolts at Sjaelland and West Prussia. Munster gives out on the 5th. And then it started on the 9th with Cologne declaring war against us, followed by Venice (Knights) and Royalists (Navarra) on the 16th, and Thuringen (Wurtemburg) on the 23rd. And at some point that last week of Apr we occupied the Nipponese trade post at Taiwan.

A revolt at Saxony in May pinned the troops Igor had planned to send against Thuringen [OOC: being almost 4 decades behind in my write ups, it's odd seeing all these countries: of the nations I'm at war with here, only Navarra still exists]. Poland (with Sardinia and Savoy) took advantage of this situation to declare war on the 2nd, and the Mughals followed suit three days later. Rebel Iraq surrendered on the 7th, and Igor continues to assure the nation that we'll find those weapons any day now, even if we have to plant the evidence ourselves!

TND we accepted Wurtemburg's offer of a truce, and then found ourselves at war in Arabia as the Hedjaz (Cyrenaica, Aden, and Nubia) declared on the 16th. The Royalists tried to back out of their folly on the 18th, as their armies were being slaughtered. On the other hand, we accepted Sardinia's TND, and offered another truce to the Mughals on the 22nd, which they accepted. England (Iroquois, Mameluks) declared war on the 27th. And two days later envoys bearing truces arrived from Venice (Y), Savoy (Y), and Cologne (N). We want the last to take care of Holland for us.

With the turning of the calendar came a revolt at Armenia. On 2 Jun Pest gave out and Yorkshire fell to a single shot. TND we reject truce offers from both Poland and Thuringen. East Pommerania fell on the 9th, as Portugal (Spain) declared war, followed by the Netherlands (Scotland) on the 12th. The Royalists offered Yorkshire on the 19th, but we rejected it as their capital at Midlands fell on the 25th. And Cologne's envoy again went away empty handed (at least we left him his hands! ) on the 30th.

Our cav captured the Portugese trade post at Howrah on 2 Jul, as the natives torch it. Kent fell TND and the Royalists became nothing more than history. This was enough to bring Navarra to the bargining table, and we accepted their hasty offer of a truce TND, also accepting Poland's offer to cede East Pommerania. We recaptured Munster on the 10th. Arabia fell on the 17th, just days before they could arm their recruits. TND we rejected Thuringen's truce offer. Our plans for the conquest of China took another step forwar with Hanoi acheiving city status [although Igor keeps compaining about having a long-term plan; he just wants to attack China no matter what the situation].

On 22 Jul, a Scottish force of 9k cav (we hear they were led by someone named Pickett;) ) charged our army deployed along a ridge at Lancashire; after our opening salvo, scores of thousands of body parts, of both horse and men, littered the field. The city itself fell on the 26th. Meanwhile, we rejected the Dutch truce offer on the 23rd as we wish to, ahem, 'liberate' Scotland. We also rejected a truce from the Hedjaz on the 29th.

West Pommerania fell on 6 Aug, the same day as we finally accepted a truce with Cologne. It became clear that, so long as our Stability is at max, Holland is immune to starvation:mad: . We rejected Portugal's truce TND, and did the same with Thuringen on the 29th. And it'll take another 2~3 posts before this war is over, so...

Ah, that's no excuse! You think it's hot in NY, try living in NC! And I'm still churning out updates on my Sibir AAR!

Just kidding. Take your time. ;)

Gaaah!

Cow Pie: I have put up several momentous ones in the past few days, so there.

Pat: Just reread your earlier post, and noticed the part about "no AC". I feel really sorry for you right now. No AC?!?! That's just.... ooh. Now I can see why it's too hot to write.

PS: Get some air conditioning! Sitting in this heat isn't good for your health at all!

I'll have you know that I survived my childhood years without any a/c at all. Somehow, it didn't seem to hurt me none. Well, I do have this unusual penchant for making home-made ice cream every summer while wearing overalls without a shirt or anything else for that matter. If only I could find a dirt road to run bare foot in, my dementia would be complete. :D

I will also submit my heartfelt sorrow at anyone suffering summer without a/c, especially on the 3rd floor! I hope it cools down soon, as it did here last night. (Sixty-one degrees, mmmmm.)

Excellent update. When you can, feel free to enlighten us some more.

Now that I have DSL (finally), perhaps the Viking Kings will soon see a small revival (once I get my daughter off the email, that is.)

Cheerio!

Actually, it has been a long hot (and humid) summer. Albany seems to be on the back edge of the Bermuda Highs.

The blackout was fun (not!): after straining my eyes to finish a crossword puzzle in the fading light of day, the power came back on!

Don't worry, I'll get some more of this written soon enough.

Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa,
Mea Mani Maxi Culpa!

Must be 6 months since I last updated this. In any case ...

Bristol as well as Kustrin w/ city revolt in Sep 1653, and we destroy the Spanish refugees fleeing from West Pomm to Magdeburg on the 1st. TND we convert Yorkshire and decline the Netherlands' offer of a truce. The Marches fell on the 4th, and England's truce was declined TND as was our demand of West Pomm [to be honest, I can't remember now who Russia was at war with at this time! :eek:o ]. Tabuk fell on the 8th, and TND we reject its offer by the Hedjaz and Portugal's truce as well; Wales fell too. By the 14th we had wiped out the Scottish army. Spain occupied our TP at Matagorda on the 28th, torching it on the 1st; TND Nippon made a suicide attack on Nakhodha.

Thuringen's and Portugal's truce offers were both rejected on 12 Oct. The 15th saw the fall of Lothian. We again reject the Hedjaz's offer of Tabuk on the 21st, and Strathclyde fell TND. Kent rebelled in Nov; Hannover gave in to its rebellion on the 4th, while the rebels in Pest surrendered on the 8th. TND Thuringen lost its independence as the city fell. One week later we rejected truce offers from England and Portugal. A week after that Nippon made another bonzai attack on Nakhodka, and a week after that Grampians fell.

In Dec, not only did West Prussia revolt, but so did Silesia with its garrison. Magyar surrendered to its rebels on the 4th, while we recaptured Hannover on the 12th. Portugal's truce was rejected on the 20th as Anglia fell. TND, as expected, England offered Wales, and we accepted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if I'll actually finish playing this one, but I will at least write the AAR as far as I've gone.
