So here I am debatting with myself if I should put more time and energy into a certain gaming project requiring historical research. But while I do this I've decided to come with a few new suggestions concerning northern Europe, and Armenia.

The suggestions are as following, and I may come back with a ton of different events at a later date with a new thread. ;)

Armenia

This was asked of me to propose by someone I know, so here it goes.

That is that the King of Armenia really should be a local Christian. Unless Wikipedia and the History of Byzantium podcast has tricked us, it seems that both Byzantines, Armenians and the Caliphs favored putting local Christians in charge of Armenia as opposed to Orthodox Greek or Muslim Arab rulers on the throne. And that in 769 the ruler of the kingdom seems to have been a Christian.

Build out Holy Sites - Allow us to build new features for our religion's holy sites for a prestige and piety boost.

For example if I play as a Germanic, I can build a great temple at Uppsala and add new features to this place to give myself prestige and piety in exchange for a ton of cash. If one would take Uppsala as an example then it could be explained that the cult site has grown so large due to the investments of returning Viking kings after their raids. With for example a really big temple unlike much of what has been seen elsewhere in the Germanic world. Same with for example, the big, Irminsul down among the Saxons.

Saxon culture

No marriage between noble and commoner possible.

I recall reading in the code for the Saxons that Charlemagne imposed on these that marriages between the classes was forbidden. One can naturally be critical in that the code in its foundation is a Frankish creation imposed on the Saxons, but its one thing that we have and at least I don't see the benefit this would have for the Frankish realm, unless it was something that was done to essentially get support from the Saxon nobles. Thus I thought that I would suggest it as it shouldn't be unreasonable that something like this may have been in effect or been asked for by the Saxon elite.

Anglo-Saxon culture

An event where the character listens to the poem "Deor" and can loss the depressive trait.

Just a little thing to make a references to the excellent and fascinating Anglo-Saxon literature that was composed during the Middle Ages.

Norse culture

Summon kin and kith - Essentially summon people to conquests across the sea and get an increased chance for both local rebellion as well as cultural conversion.

Essentially a form to represent the emigration from Scandinavia by the Norse out into the world and them settling into conquered lands. And could perhaps also help the AI create a actual Norse states that might survive for a little while.

Germanic religion

Different Germanic cultures can get additional gods mentioned in their flavour texts when in the Germanic religion such as;
Saxons - Saxnoth
Franks - Merovech
Swedish - Ullr

Just to add some more names that those normally thrown about.

New trait; Seidr. Similar to Mystic but a woman with this trait will be admired by fellow pagans and hated by religions who takes a dim view of what we would call "magic". Accessable to Germanic religion women. A man with it is despised by everyone. And also an event text where women, or men, who had the Seidr trait combined with the Cruel or Arbitrary trait, are after their deaths locked down in their graves with spells and rituals to ensure that they and their powers won't be able to reach out to the living while a kind or charitable person with this trait may be actively encourage to use its powers to help the living.

Another way to essentially highlight women's roles in the Norse pagan world.

Tribal government

Remove the "temple" holding and instead create the "Central Place" for tribal government. At least this should be possible to go with for Tribal northern European cultures.

Essentially an attempt at representing the system with central places as opposed to the castles and towns of the later age, at least in Scandinavia.

Decision; Hold great funeral for leaders with the chance to exchange gold for prestige in a sort of reverse coronation, that is done after the leader has died for benefits for his, or her, successors.

A way to highlight the importance of building status by great funerals in tribal socities.
