That's the best way I can describe what's been happening since I started my game when the latest update launched. Whenever i'd purchase anything from the market, like gases or minerals anything,
I'm charged the energy credits it costed, of course. However, after that, I also get a massive negative to the production of that resource, while before the purchase the gain was positive. The negative to that material would last about a year, draining the stockpile.

Do you have monthly trades about that resource, too? Possibly with a price limit?

Because if you buy in bulk, you will generally shoot that price limit every single time, and consequently the trade deal with pause until the price has normalized. Which could take a year or longer, depending on how large the bulk buy/sell was.

Alternatively, your monthly trades can end up paused if you expend too much energy to fuel the trade. But that usually never lasts longer than a single month, so I assume the former is the case.

The monthly + - numbers on your resources is only updated every month. so it is entirely possible that is not what you thought it is until next month.
But there's no real reason for his income to have spikes that large from one month to the next, and always occuring right after he makes trades.

I do not have monthly trades on buying things, only selling consumer goods because I can produce a lot while still having +60 minerals a month. It's after any purchase I make say 1000 minerals or 10 minerals, I still get a massive negative to my production.
Can you record some screenshots / video of this? I can't come up with a valid reason why

  • buying minerals
  • nukes your mineral production
Production is entirely independant of both storage and market prices, there shouldn't be a correlation.

Are you running a shortage normally? Maybe you have a bunch of buildings that are disabled by lack of resources.

You buy resources -> the buildings turn back on due to having the resources to do so -> they gobble up those resources -> turn back off due to lack of resources
