It's great because if the rifle-percentage is proportional to local loss in IC,
resources, etc. then a high rifle-percentage will tie up occupant divisions if
they are designed to lower the rifle-percentage. And that would be historical.

That would also remove an AI-problem, since you might suddenly meet them while raiding with light tanks behind their front. it's harder to exploit a slow AI, when they are placing division here and there behind the front.

And if you let it get too high, you might have actual guerrilla units appearing to liberate the territory, like Tito's partisans and Mao's guerrillas. Ideally, province Partisan-risk would increase as you hold on to it and are at war, even if its been annexed. Perhaps core provinces would not have as much P-risk.

I'd also like to see an actual 2nd-line unit buildable, in place of the completely worthless militia unit from HoI. Org and attack/defense values could be scaled from front-line infantry divs, instead of being dependant on tech, which lead to HoI1 militia having 2 Hard attack, 2 soft attack in 1945.

Like I said, the names on the map will never be changed for other-language versions AFAIK
The russian version of EU2 has the province names in Cyrillic, doesn't it? I think I've seen an EU2 screenshot like that.

But what I meant was this. In HOI1, there's a province in Spain named Lleida. In Victoria that place is named Lerida. And both names are correct, they're just the names of the place in two languages (castilian and catalan), and could both be picked up for use in the game, as either would fit the "english name" criteria equally well (I mean, you will probably find english-language maps with either name). And there should be plenty of situations of the sort.

"In terms of the causualties sustained and resources expended, the Second World War was predominatly a struggle between Germany and the Soviet Union." - Philips Atlas of World History.

Finally, we see where the war will be won or lost!

As for the screenie itself, there are many "country customs" I like such as propaganda posters faded behind the left info and the soviet flag melting into your top resource bar, much more stylish (but not classic looking like vicky) than the old HoI. The terrain looks perfect for those big tank battles, :D and the soviets trying to build forts across their border is no longer effective, which was the case in real life, the border was huge and this will make Germany have to keep a stablized front or risk getting chopped up by pockets of soviet resistance in all those cities!

Im glad Kiev is a city terrain, which will make it hell for the Germans to take, and the true strategic depth, not really geographical, but still simulated the vastness of the ukrainian steppe and the forests of the baltic region

Yup, I've even seen a Japanese screenshot of HoI1. That doesn't change the map being hardcoded, it takes weeks to change it to different language. That can be done, but the market must be big enough and the changes in language severe. I don't think there's so much names different in, say, French than English, but do understand the difficulties of Japanese to enjoy the English names.

But what I meant was this. In HOI1, there's a province in Spain named Lleida. In Victoria that place is named Lerida. True, which makes things tricky. The solution is to look at an English map of the time and see what name they used then. It might not be right, but it's consistent.

HoI 1 released in Poland by CDP actually had two exe files - one with map that had provinces with adjusted names (with polish spelling) and second with original names.

Ok, didn't know :) Thanks

.

I like this idea (because I suggested something like it :) )
But honestly, I have my doubts that this is what the rifle represents... :(
Why? Gut feeling and because Johan or Vulture have not yet made a comment...
Johan was good enough to say "Someone wins a prize" over the power icon thing... but he has said nothing on this yet.

I guessed that the first icon was a road and a railway representing infrastructure... I could still be wrong.

It would be nice to get a "You're on the money" or a "Keep Guessing" here?

no one else have ideias about that airbase icon ? on the right of the rifle icon ??.... does that means only provinces with airbases can have planes ???? :| ... ohh boy ...
My first thought at seeing the rifle icon was a revolt risk indicator. Or is that too Vicky like? Troops maybe?

Finally some more provinces for the Eastern Front!

It is looking good! And great to see that Warsaw is a city province.

Just a few minor points:

- Why the hilly terrain i Lithuania and Bessarabia?

- If possible, I would like to see better terrain graphics.

And now is when Johan bursts the bubble and tell us that the rifle represents percentage of the province that has been taken by the enemy (remember, movement-is-combat).
