I have just read the book 1984 and was amazed by the neverending war that is described in this book. So I figured "Why not try to make a nice little mod for this in Hoi2?".

There are three main factions:
* Oceania (ideology: Ingsoc or English Socialism) comprises Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, Polynesia, Southern Africa, and the Americas.
* Eurasia (ideology: Neo-Bolshevism) comprises continental Europe and northern Asia.
* Eastasia (ideology: Obliteration of the Self, usually rendered as "Death worship") comprises China, Japan, Korea, and Northern India.
* The contested territories - The part of the world that was spared the worldwide atomic holocaust.

Here is the map of the world in 1984:

Eurasia was formed shortly after world war two as a result of the american and british leaving europe earlier than they did historically. The whole of europe was left for the soviets to conquer, and so they did.

As a result of this new bolshevik threat, the US and it allies annexed the american continent and called themselves Oceanians. The atomic wars erupted between Eurasia and the newly formed Oceania around this time. This led to civil dissent in the UK as the majority of the citizens had urged the government to form an alliance with the Oceanians to counter the Bolsheviks threat that loomed over the British Isles.
This dissent eventually led to a coup d'etat against the british government by the intelligentsia in the country. The new government allied itself with Oceania and short thereafter became annexed.

Eastasia was formed by the Japanese and Chinese conquest of its neighbours. This could happen due to that the japanese had succeded in couping the Chinese government back in the 30's, and therefore became allies instead.
As the atomic wars destroyed most of the infrastructure in Eurasia and Oceania, Eastasia has a big advantage of being the only supernation that has not been forced to build up its industries from scratch, but Eastasia does not have as superior technology as the other two nations.

The part of the world that did not align itself with any of the superstates was spared the horror of the A-bombs. This part of the world has a great number of manpower that can be used to fight the war and used for labor as salves, this can prove to be a decisive advantage for the one who controls it.

One supernation is always allied with another, but the alliance always end up in tatters as one of the allied nation backstabs the other for its own advantage. Couldn't this make the mod kind of unprectictalbe and fun? I'll try to put in random events for these backstabbings based on who you are allied with.

Changes in the game:

I will put up levelt 10 land and sea forts on the british isles and a long atlantic wall for Eurasia, just so that Eurasia can't steamroll Great Britain and vice versa. Most of the infrastructure will be incredible low in most of the world to simulate the aftermath of a global nuclear war, except near Urban Centers. London will be renamed "Airstrip one".
Events depicting the problematic proles and the persecution of certain individuals will be made.
New ministers that can switch sides and bring with them valuable blueprints to their new country.
New techs, like telescreens and it's affect on dissent.

These are the preliminary things I've been thinking of when it comes to realistic ingame changes.

It would be nice if anyone else was interested in this idea and could contribute too! This will be my first attempt to mod HOI2, so wish me good luck...
This will certainly take a long time, but I'm really motivated.
So, what do you think? Is this a tempting idea?
