I was looking through the territorial statistics as Germany with the whole map revealed... and I discovered that Houston, in additon to 5 ICs, 5 energy, 3 metal, and 54 oil, has 91 rares, the most of any province in the game.
Can someone who knows about Houston's contributions to the war effort - or someone from Paradox - explain this? I always thought it odd that the US started out with a surplus of rares, as it was the loss of Malaysia (27 rares each in the 4 provinces north of Singapore, and 28 in Aingapore proper) that really put a dent in the US rubber supply.
I'd prefer that rares were spread out more evenly amoung various minors, so they'd have more to trade. 91 rare materials in Houston feels like some sort of kludge to me. Does anyone know what rares include, other than rubber? Do they include strategic metals, or are they included in metal?
While we're at it, can anyone tell me what happened to the nickel mines in Petsamo?
