9 Sons in a Row

So, I'm trying to get the Empressive achievement. I've got full feminism and absolute cognatic succession. I'm Jain, allowing me to designate my heir, and I've got my first empress... And then she goes and has NINE SONS IN A ROW!?

What's going on here? I'm playing vanilla CK2, all DLC, no mods, ironman. The odds of this happening by chance are 1:512, so it seems highly unlikely that this is a fluke. Any ideas?

Not to make you get the Paranoid Trait...

It sometimes seems the game is designed to give you the exact opposite of what you want.

Praying for sons? It's a guarantee you get a boatload of girls.

Want girls? Expect lots of boys...

Yeah. I've seen streaks of nothing but girls. Then there's streaks of nothing but sons.

It's annoying at times.

Just out of interest, what's the record you guys have seen? Have you seen 10 children of one gender in a row? 20?

I've bagged over 1000 hours playing CK2, but this is only my second or third experience of playing a woman. In all those 1000 hours, I've been annoyed by having two or three girls in a row when I wanted boys - but then I was playing a man - but I've never seen anything close to NINE IN A ROW.

Welcome to CK2, the game that will make you cry blood and forsake your soul.

I know these odds are very "unique", but I'm 99% sure nothing's bugged here, especially if you're not using mods.

As an example, I remember clearly having the opposite situation in one of my first playthroughs way back, where I had a good bunch of girls in a row while playing with Agnatic succession. The worst part was that when I finally got a son (pretty sure he was my 7th kid), he got murdered by a priest. He was just a couple of months shy of his first birthday...

I had 8 girls in a row as a muslim once. One time 4 daughters all genius (15% inheritance chance I believe) and 2 boys, one ugly, one slow, not from parents. And, of course, countless times of all children dead from whateverosis to let the worst son to inherit.

Well, 1/512 is a pretty high chance to experience just once in 1000 hours, isn't it?
