1. what is the penalty for trying research a doctrine before the year it has on it?

2. At the bottom of the first pic there are Land, Naval and Air sections with numbers like 5.0 etc.. what do this mean?

3. Are AA guns going to be worth while building in HOI 3?

1. It takes longer. No idea how much longer though.
2. They are your experience in that field.
3. No idea, haven't played yet.

Curious to know how a user defined building appears on the map ? Presumably, if I were to define:

modded_in_building = { ...... }

I'd put an associated graphic file called, say, modded_in_building.gif somewhere in the GFX directories. But how do I make the graphic file start at a pixel place on the map. Can the provinces.txt have as many fields as necessary, or is there a limit ?

To ask for maybe too much ...........

Any chance of seeing one of the AI scripts - still curious if there is a country.ai definition - for building/diplo priorities etc .. and the a separate "action" lua script to allow the movement of units. I imagine that ai movement/objective orders are written down in lua scripts somewhere - so can be carried out after a save and quit. Curious to know if I could, for example, script the flight of Hess by showing a german plane actually fly to Scotland, or, more ambitiously, could script the actual German Barbarossa attack, so units began with their real life movements/objectives.

Hi Liebgot, you refering to?:

ai_chance = { factor = 100 }

Thats probably the chance the AI playing as Germany will make the decision to annex Austria. In any way, it will not be a simple event as in previous HOI titles. There are most likely some political actions you have to persue in order to get the "Anschluss" event. More like the task system in EU3

Ah I see, I am in my mind still in HOI II "waters".
Thank you.

Example of a building...
Code:
# Do not change tags in here without changing every other reference to them.
# If adding new buildings, make sure they are uniquely named.
#
# Order in here matters for selection priority if icons are overlapping,
# so leave bases on top

#
# cost = x #==> cost in ic to build (subject to other modifiers)
# time = x #==> number of day to build.
#

air_base = {
	on_completion = construction_practical
	air_capacity = 1
	capital = yes
	onmap = yes
	cost = 2
	time = 180
	max_level = 10
	visibility = yes
}
Can we add tags and different buildings/units?

Sure it makes sense, but it's the first time we see how it is implemented.

They could've kept the old terrain modifier concept and define divisions as infantry or armor depending on the brigades they consist of.

What about a division with a marine, paratrooper, infantry and armour brigade?

How do ahead of time penalties work in comparison to HoI2?

For instance do they max out at some point? Or do they keep going up and up the further ahead of time that they are? Does it go up linearly? Or is something different?

I think that they are multiplicative, like in HoI2.
So if you would have modifiers of -10% (0.9) and -15% (0.85) then your combat effectiviness would be (1.0 * 0.9 * 0.85 =) 0.765 instead of (100% - 10% -15% =) 75%

I am not sure about this though.

I recall Johan or someone saying that all the percentages in HoI3 are additive (ie. in your example the result would be 75%). Might be wrong though...

I hope they are multiplicative like in HoI 2. Negative additive modifiers can lead to 1% (effective zero) pretty fast, which doesn't do the situation justice often enough.
