Paradox still gets a significant portion (majority?) of their sales through brick-and-mortar stores (excluding download only titles).A thought occurred to me- what % of EU3 sales were through gamersgate? I suspect it is very high, as few casual camers would be into EU3 and would go into a shop to buy it. With that in mind, doesn't it essentially mean that they have a monopoly on it? With other games, different companies compete in an open market to provide a cheaper product than their competitors, so we are a captive market, vulnerable to the pricing mechanism of a single company.
What do you guys think?
Other major digital distribution channels that sell Paradox titles include Steam, Impulse, and D2D. IIRC, Steam recently had an HttT sale.
