Then it certainly doesn't act on that knowledge.

It will regularly besiege targets that don't belong to the primary participant (thus not giving any war score by definition). It will march back and forth, avoiding actually completing a siege that would give war score, and ignore the primary war target in favor of less valuable sieges. It won't prioritize besieging or unsieging the primary war target even when that would give/stop ticking war score. And its behavior during coalition wars can be best described as a giant mess.
maybe that's because they know it, for GHW there is some parameter unique to all casus belli
Code:
        occupation_participation_mult = 0.5
        siege_participation_mult = 1
        battle_participation_mult = 7.5
I guess it meant they enjoy battle more than everything, then siege anything, make conquest the target the last thing they will do.

Great Holy Wars really need to be:
Lead by a single intelligence on both sides (unless events say otherwise)
Events or a system to simulate interactions between participants (inspired after real events)
Not be a "war" unless you send your king
Stage at locations closer to the target

i never played sterallis idk how ai handles wars but idc as long as i can do my decisions, half of them are blocked by being at war and i cant do anything about it
Can you just not go to war if you don’t think you are able to significantly contribute? I have only been “invited” to the crusades once and I didn’t get any indication that I actually needed to head over to the fight.

I will say that it seems weird that a king would go away on a month long pilgrimage during a holy war. So, the game not allowing it makes sense.

War score from battles should just be uncapped always (or at least to 100%). Usually getting +100% battle score means you've already destroyed the entire enemy army, or at least crippled it beyond repair (or that would be the case if armies didn't full regen in 3 months).

Wars should be decidable by 1 or 2 major battles.

Not necessarily if it is not fighting in the war, but even if it is, it could also go to any other pilgrimage, although not being allowed to go to the contested one would indeed make sense.
