So I was playing Multiplayer and after one guy just killed japan as the USA within like 2 months with only 200 to 300 lvl 2 submarines and Wolf pack doctrine (he surrounded japan and he was helpless) he went on observer and saw USA Marine divisons with 5 Comat width. So my Qeustion now are 5 combat width Marine divisons exploits ?

First of all, if the Japan player got wrecked by level 2 subs then they are probably pretty inexperienced. They probably forgot to put depth charges on their DDs. If they were Sub 3 with snorkels and 1940 torpeddoes then it might have been excusable, but even early DD hull with the basic depth charges easily massacres Sub 2.

Also, the screenshot must have been edited, or you were playing with a mod, or the player messed around with the game files. The division should have 20 width, not 5 width. All the other stats seem wrong too.

You may want to open an SP game with Road to 56 and try to make that same division. It should be a 22 combat width, or close to it, depending on doctrines. That 5.xxx combat width for 10 combat battalions should not be possible with that mod only.

In your OP, your question was if this is an exploit. I am not sure if it is an exploit, but it does look like some cheating. My apologies if he is playing fair, but I cannot explain that combat width any other way.

But I assume that this template is affected by more than Rt56....

AlsoI just asked Japan it wasnt 200 subs it was 500 to 600 subs

no matter the amount of subs, what really matters is how many DD´s japan used to protect the convoys and how many of them where equipped to deal with the threat.
Also amount of bombers, radars and if the enemy used mines. (If yes he needs the tech to avoid most of them, its a 37 tech).

A little doctrine (And carrier doctrine do have good bonuses for it) plus some good DD`s should kill lots and lots of subs and any DD killed will just be a luck shot.
While japan is not england and face a much higher pressure to deal with the US production they do have a very good amount of DD`s and can easily equip dozens of them each month with starting dockyards. (As DD only use steel and japan do have them even if they're completely blocked).

The same lessons that england and allies should use in the atlantic to defend their convoys.
Japan also need to follow to at least protect the coast.


PS: Im talking about vanilla. I don´t know how the mod changes naval warfare.

In worst case you restrict your seazones so that all supply and ressource transfers just goes trough one single seazone which is shallow waters, and then bomb the crap out of this seazone.
The seazone between Kyushu/Nagasaki and Fuzho China. You just need like 20DDs or something to protect your subs and just have 2k Fighter + Navalbombers over the seazone for good detection to kill the subs in droves.

Aslong as there aren't any more cheats like the combat width thing.

It does sound like something "fishy" was going on. It would be interesting to see the stats on his 600 subs as well, if the width was apparently being altered.

also its just me or the division have a hardness of 100% on that screenshot?

Something not even a superheavy tank can get.

EDIT: The unit also use 0 fuel.
