If any of you ever comes to Canada, don't even think about drinking that horrible Molson Canadian thing... believe me, only the beers brewed in Quebec are good ones on this continent
If any of you has the chance, the privilege (and on, and on, and on ) to visit Québec, I suggest "La Maudite" (The Damn) at 8% alcool or "La fin du monde" (The End of the world) at 9%. Then you'll understand why Trooper calls us "Crazy Québécois" (most regular beers are around 5%)

Since when has the alcohol content determined the beer quality?

Like it goes in the story of a couple who got locked up accidentally for ages in a basement and had to resort to drinking their urine just to stay alive. Luckily they were found soon after. If they had been there for a bit longer they would have had to resort to drinking the case of Heinken in the corner! Saved just in time!

3 beers walk into a bar : a Stella, a Palm and a Duvel.
The Stella orders first and asks for a Stella evidently.
The Palm follows suit and ordered a Palm. As one would expect.
They start enjoying their drinks when the Duvels orders.
"I'll have a coke please."
The others look amazed and ask why ?
"Well, if u lot aren't going to drink beer, I won't either"

Stella Artois we've got here and I don't like, same for Heineken.
And to Crook: you're right, the alcohol content does not determine a good beer, but those microbreweries can produce quality stuff, even when that strong. It makes a change from the regular beers.
And hmm. Just a little note for you guys:
According to the latest statistics I've heard of, Québec is now the place were we drink the most beers per capita.
Germans are now trailing behind us... (at least we are first in something!)

Well it's probably because we count it in liters and Ireland use gallons.
I saw the article breafly on www.canoe.com a few months ago (at the beginning of the summer), now I can't find it anymore... I remember 'cause it was about alochol
Ireland & the others probably outways us in the total number of liters/gallons, but on an average by people, I think we are the biggest ones.It would make sense tough, we drink a lot on the 24th of June 'cause it's our national day and we drink a lot on the 1st July 'cause it's Canada day. We have one more day than the rest of Canada
And on the 1st July we either drink out of joy or out of sorrow, depending on your political opinions

Actually, we have quite large breweries that produce cheap, high-quality beer, usually at 5,5º. Besides 'Sagres' and 'Super Bock', you may actually want to taste 'Laurentina', a recently rebor brand that we brewed in Africa* and that actually kept our armies going during the Colonial Wars (1961-1974).
*We had pretty big breweries in Mozambique and Angola, but those are now just rotting away due to gross neglect... a shame, really.

P.S.- Aren't we going to bash that weird hot water the english dare to call beer? When I was in England and ordered a beer for the first, I actually thought they were trying to cheat me!
(Well, I KNEW they like their... beer... warm, but I never thought it would be just yellowish water).
