Dutchy Creation Weirdness.

I start a new game as Germany - I own a lot of territory, but can't create any new titles (apparently)... I have a tiny demense, and so decide to give the Pagans in Meckleburg a kicking. Having taken all of their provinces I go to see the create title scene - there are tons of dutchies avaliable for creation (e.g. Schwitz, Dauphine ) I create a load (mega-prestige bonus) mid-way through creating the dutchy of Meckleburg... after then I can't create any more of the [old] new titles...

So I conquor some more territory, enough to make another dutchy... all the dutchies I didn't create before are on my create title screen...

Is this working as Intended? It seems a bit weird to say the least.

That does sound a bit odd. Let's move this over to the bug forum...

I have had this happen to me also.

When you have the opportunity to create certain titles, but lack the required number of provinces the "create title" button would be off. However, as soon as you acquired enough provinces to create a title, the button and list would be accessible once more. All of the titles of which you have a piece of, but not enough to create them, would still appear, along with the one which you could.

That has been my experience. I certainly haven't percieved it as a bug.

Same here, sometimes the "Create Title" button will grey itself out and not be available. After a bit you take a few more provinces and it comes back.

Is this the behavior you are experiencing?

That has happened to me as well. If you have only 1 demesne province you can't grant or create any titles at all. A bit weird.

BUG: The Duchy of Leptis Magna

When I create the title of Duke of Leptis Magna, I can create no more titles, even when the King is dead or when I give the title to someone. It happened in all my plays

Please read through the instructions given in the sticky threads, in them you'd see you shouldn't have used abbreviations like BUG in the thread name yourself. That's for moderators to edit when/if a bug is listed to the buglist and reported to Paradox.

Anyways, is this a duchy-specific problem? Have you had the same issue with other duchies? Have you done something special when playing this title compared to other games with other titles?

The problem appeared only with this Duchy (as much as I know) and every time I've created it (I've tried with the Duchy of Milan 3 times and with the King of Naples with different Kings and even giving the title to one of my vassal).
When I create it the display sais that I can create no more Duchies because I haven't the right county (for instance, before creating it I had a look at the list and I was able to create the Duchies of Tunisia and Cyrenaica).

I think this was reported a while back, you can only create titles if and only if you personally own a province (ie it is part of your demesne) that is part of an uncreated title. As long as such a province exists, you can also create those titles which cover land owned by your vassals (ie in your domain). However, if by creating titles you run out of provinces contained in unclaimed titles, the option to create title is grayed out.

Confusing? Let's give an example:

Suppose you are the King of France in 1066. Your demesne is only Ile de France and Orleans, but your domain ( land owned by you and your vassals) covers the whole of France. The "Create Title" screen is available, and allows you to create 7 duke titles, including the Duke of Orleans. The province of Orleans is part of the title "Duke of Orleans". Now, you can create any of these titles in any order you want (as long as you have the money) BUT when you create the Duke of Orleans, the "Create Title" option is grayed out and you cannot create any other titles.

So this is indeed a bug, in that the games handles the requirements for title creation inconsistently.

that makes a lot of sense - sounds like the 1.00 (or was it 1.01?) bug which only allowed title creation if one province of the title was in your demense (i.e. I could only create the dutchy of Brittany if at least one of the Breton provinces was in my demense, the others begin held by my vassals) wasan't fully corrected.

However, it does make some sense that the King of Germany cannot create any new titles at game start - all his land is parceled out to vassals, and it is unlikely that they would allow him to simply designate a portion of their domaine as a part of a new dutchy. It also means that the Duke of Bohemia can create his kingdom without the king of Germany claiming it first.

Has somebody noted that AI still goes by the rules of 1.01, meaning it won't create any titles it doesn't have a piece of.

Example: AI is King of Germany. His vassal provinces include the Kingdom of Bohemia, which he could create if he could create any title. Let's say AI takes Mecklemburg, so now if he would be player, he would be able to create all titles in Germany area, as long as Mecklemburg is uncreated. So a player in that spot could create King of Bohemia title for himself. But AI never does this. It would only create King of Bohemia title, if he would own part of the area of Kingdom of Bohemia.

This could be a WAD, but it gives player yet another advantage over AI.

Hmmm, I have the very bad feeling this is related to the Leptis Magna problem

EDIT: Brave Knights, I suspect a nasty bug interface after a Duchy creation.

Could you help investigate the issue. You need to understand the rule of Duchy creation as they are in 1.02 to help us !
