You have given away enough provinces to reduce your BB to your preferred half measure.

That was so thoughtful of Ferdinand to die heirless. There's very little of Germany outside your control. Alliance with Lithuania, Burgundy, Hungary and Bohemia guarantee your security.

Nice job, Coz1! Doing your level best to implement your own Großdeutsche Lösung (Greater German Solution - as opposed to the historical 'Small' German solution, i.e. Germany without Austria) under unquestionable Brandenburger superiority - very good show! Congratulations on soundly beating history about it in both scope (by including Austria!) and time - the better part of three centuries! Only time will tell whether you can convert your victorious acquisitions in Germany into a unified German state under a new crown not that of just Brandenburg. Burgundy and France had best keep their eyes east - Germany might want the Rhine back.

Everyone who has seem the Simpsons episode when they are in Flodira know what happends with your reputation when you kill the gigant gator. ;)

I would mention one other note about my own expansion in Germany - it has taken just about 150 years to do what I've done so it was not as if it all happened in a span of a decade, or even three.

But it is true that there should probably be some greater penalty for the Emperor especially to gobble up minors. And it should surely hurt the Emperors relations with all electors, if not all members.
Before the inheritence I count it to 31 conquered provinces in 145 years, none lost even temporary, which make approxemetly one new province every 4,5th year. That is not very little.

Fb-fb:

Lord E - The inheritance shocked me as well. I was certainly not planning on it. I was more concerned with how Austria might do in their war with Burgundy. I was secretly hoping Austria might prevail so I could take them on later rather than Burgundy. Oh well. As for the interior not looking pretty - I've a good mind to deal with Bohemia now. ;)

Gongsun Zan - Yes, well - it was never my intention to take all of Europe. I only wanted Germany really and had no idea it would be this easy. But there is still France, Burgundy and Bohemia to deal with to make the borders look pretty.

stnylan - Yes, I figured I would be fine with BB after the Cherokee war not anticipating the inheritance. I was really lucky it did not blow me over the top. I think I need to take it easy for a few years to get that down a bit.

Chief Ragusa - Lithuania definitely. Burgundy is still a possibility. Hungary if I can take enough from Bohemia. Bohemia - never! ;)

Corbett - It is interesting as regards Prussia. Since the game is not historically minded, I have not had much need to include any of the Prussian heritage that usually accompanies Brandenburg and Germany. And this really does make me question and wonder about that Germany event. I imagine I still have about another 40 years as far as the MTTH will make it fire. And thoughts or ideas from the readers about how to handle that?

Snake IV - Yep - a little bit of Poland and a little bit of France...baby steps or giant steps, either way, I have surely grown large and fat. I kind of hated letting Croatia go since it gave up that gator effect, but it seemed a natural for a vassal.

And now, the screenie-fest I mentioned:

Goodness gracious... Who are you, The Man Who Ate The Blob? It will be interesting to see if Brandenburg becomes more Austrian or vice versa.

Other than mighty Lithuania, the office of Emperor would seem to contribute little to your already-formidable Germany. Of course historically the Roman Empire also claimed France, Spain and Italy so you do have 'some' room left to grow. (Not to mention Egypt if you get bored).

Well... I'll go ahead and sum up your next goal.

France.

The empire sure is very large, other than that the world sure is an interesting place. But I think it is safe to say you are close to being/or are already the greatest power in the world, so your next goal should be to strike against the French. You can’t have them owning land in your backyard…

Outstanding!

I go away for a couple of days and I come back to see that you own half the world! :D

France might seem like your next target, possibly after you've taken care of Bohemia, but your reputation (BB) and inflation (even though it's falling) seem (to me) to be your biggest problems. Maybe laying low for a bit could help with both, before you embark on a new adventure.

Thanks for the entertainment! :)

You could do the same with Bohemia as you did with Austria. Control of the Curia will reduce your bad boy (from other EU3 England AARs).

Your techs are equal to France on land, though they and everyone else have advantage at sea. Your high inflation has hurt your ability to tech as fast as the others. It will be interesting to see if EU 3 has the same hyper teching as EU 2 once you hit around 90 provinces.

Your large colonial forces will surprise the French. It's time to remove the French form Holy German soil.

I will dissent from the majority opinion to attack France. There will be time enough for that later. You have a good (excellent) administrative leader and I think that should be your focus. Inheritance of such a large amount of land without warning (if you will) can lead to further destabilization. Continue your focus on reducing inflation (to help your tech advance) and let's not forget about the colonies. Great job!!

Wow!

Looks like Germany is shaping up to be the defender of Catholicism against Reformism (and Lutheranism? - what happens with Lutheranism?)! And with a Catholic north America, to boot!

Interesting that you have completely disregarded trade. Your 1600 trade tech is what my Milan's is in 1500! Not that you're probably way ahead in other areas of where I will be in 1600.

Director - Well, I didn't mean to. I mean...it was just sitting on the counter and the next thing I knew, it was in my mouth. I feel a bit like Homer Simpson at this point. I can't help that the cake gets eaten. ;) As for becoming more Austrian, I don't seem to be picking them up as accepted cultures (or anyone else for that matter after I got Hannovarian - is there something that effects this?) As for France...all in good time, sir...all in good time.

Lord E - And I would say the same to you. I need to get that BB down and build up my forces. I'll just say that at one point in the decade that follows the previous update, France had something like 20,000 inf, 12,000 cav and 2,000 art. sitting in those Germanic lands of Koln and Pal. Needless to say, I've had to build up.

Petros - Well, thanks for finding it entertaining. :) Rep and inflation are definitely the two things I need to keep focus on. But of course, there are always some unforeseen forces that come into play. ;)

Wenis - That is one of my questions. Do I still go for Germany at this point? I'm not sure that the plusses outweigh what I am already getting right now. Real good question. I have all the needed provinces but the MTTH is still about 40 yrs away from expiring.

Chief Ragusa - Yeah, I think France will be real surprised when I show up in the Americas with the forces I have. Problem is - I need them in Europe too. As for hyper-teching, I am keeping good pace, and currently above France still in land. I don't expect to fight them at sea too much. I am actually more concerned with their trade and prod efficiency. They have bumped ahead of me and I don't like it one bit.

stnylan - If I choose it, that is. It's already that very thing already - just requires the name.

Eber - See above for France. Still waiting for the right chance.

WhisperingDeath - Good advice, at least in that this was exactly what I have done for the following years. It gives nothing away as I've been saying pretty much the same thing. By the way, you asked some time ago about my colonies and what I was getting from them. I took this screenie to give you an idea:

TaxProdinSantee.jpg

As I look at it, I think it is better than I thought, but still. You tell me what it means.

Renss - I have definitely decided that I won't be going Prot. I have stemmed the tide in Germany and France is getting more and more of the "new religion." It could actually turn out to be more of a religious war rather than territorial. As for trade - I keep trying to dabble, but I don't have but 5 at a time to use. I'll send two and by the time I have four ready to go again, both (or the one that stuck) is already gone. Trade sucks in this game. That's it and that is all. Unless you focus entirely on it, it really is just an afterthought. Which is too bad.

And I had one other screenie for the general readership which might be able to help me solve an issue. I am usually a high centralization kind of player, but there are some negatives to go along with the positives in this game. Here is my slider:

Centslider.jpg

Is it worth it? Seems like I'd lose on research just to gain on efficiency of Prod. Any ideas about this? I'd appreciate the input. (EDIT - now that I think on it, the screenie actually gives what I have right now. Add a plus one to each of those for one more click towards Cent.)

Thanks to all for reading and commenting. Look for another update tomorrow. I've played through 1611 and should get another 10 or so years in tomorrow. Things are still looking good though I did have one neighbor who thought they might try and challenge. The correct guess gets you a coz puddin' pop. ;)
