You did miss something, as SoI was still "major" DLC. The announcement way back when was "four more planned major DLCs after SoI".
Yeah this is why I'm mostly laughing at the Aztec thing. Its not cost us either Pagans, Republics nor Theocracies.
A purist expansion would be nice, where you play the game exactly as history was, meaning all dialogs only have 1 option, and randomness is reduced to surtainty. Basically there's nothing unusual happening, and the next time you play it might be a deja vu. That will teach those evil Aztecs!

People give too much value to this "4 DLC" thing. Seeing how old that news is, some of them may have been canceled and some added, like it is usual in development.
CK2 will be getting DLC as long as they are being sold, as long as there is demand and as long as PI has ideas for new DLC's. Thats the only thing that matters.

So that means one could play multi and as with all minor DLC's it would not matter if one of the players have it activiated and the other not, i can really hardly imagin that to work ...
and just hope Paradox will not evaluate the peoples interest in CK2 by the sell of this DLC as many people migth not buy particulary "this" expension
(myself will not buy it, because not interested in seefaring aztex in a history based game)
and other arguments like "but it does not take them time to make" is just non-sense , well hope for those who will buy the expension that Paradox will concecrate time for this one too (but i have no doubt about that)
Sure, there could be more, but the point is that this is the minimum promised amount. Republics, Pagans and Theocraties are still in the pipeline. I'd love to get more afterwards but this is what I feel the game needs to reach the point where I'm happy with it.

Well that is no reason to not buy the rest. The rest of ck is astonishing.
I think either the next major expansion will be either a naval/trade/venice expansion and all that it entails (trade routes, republics and so on) or a renaissance expansion.
It only introduced Turkish Succession Law, made Muslims playable, music, Mali, African Units, Muslims unique events, and art assets; right?
LoR era gave retinues, factions, ambition rework, new events, patriarchs, new religions, pentarchy, new traits, new decisions, Byzantium rework, Roman Empire formation, Imperial Conquest CB, unit skins, music, new portraits; did I leave anything out?
They said after SoI's release that they had "four more expansions in the works", not "we're only gonna do four expansions". This means we can look forward to AT LEAST three more major DLCs. The next one will probably be playable pagans (and I wouldn't be surprised if it releases either at the same time as or directly after Sunset Invasion with SI acting as a smokescreen), followed by Republics and Theocracies and then possibly something that brings the timeline back a bit, no doubt to either Viking or Carolingian times.

I'm pretty sure that when Paradox announced DLC expansions as its new direction they said five major expansions. So SoI and LoR being the first two major expansions we still have three to go. SI invasion has been confirmed to not be included as one of the five major expansions, so it's still three to go.
Wait, this expansion, the Aztec one, is in two weeks only, so they still have the time to make one more before doomsd... the end of the year.

I do hope so. Crusader Kings is a very unique game for Paradox, differentiatingi it from Vicky, EU and HoI in that you play as people/dynasties rather than countries. I for one would really like to see some form of timeline extension which allows us to be fighting for the very existence of the nobility in the world, be it a DLC or standalone expansion.
They're sure to do pagans and republics, but after that I suppose it really depends on how well everything else has done.
For me there is something special about having them all. Having most of them isn't the same.
I'll still look at them and see if I want the features (merchant republics & trading is an almost certain buy), but its won't be the same now with other DLC.
