AFAIK you have to get a ruler of different gender than Aragon, between 1450 and 1500, they both have to be adults and independent, and that's it.

Playing Castille iron man with 1.5 ....the event fired 1496 for me. If the PU doesnt fire until 1500 you should force them into a PU. Try to ally with France because even an allied Portugal will turn on you.

The personal union did not kick in with Aragon... must have screwed up something... no clue ?

Long story short, each of the historical events has a chance not to trigger. This is to make every game different.

To add clarification, you share dynasty from the 1444 start. So yes, if by 1500 you have not yet got the Iberian Wedding, claim throne once they are heirless and fight a succession war. France likes to rival either Aragon or you, so it might be impossible to gather them as an ally after 1500. I prefer to ally them from the game start, when it is more easy.

If you, as Castille/Spain, get obliterated by anything that doesn't include France, you're doing it wrong :p

Yes well, in two games I've had early games where Aragon is dows on me for Navarre and brings his friends from Austria after somehow getting a quick alliance with Austria. I've played six games with Castile and have yet to have the Iberian wedding fire. Either Aragon is fighting Castile or the rulers weren't opposite gender or it just doesn't fire. Aragon is very aggressive to my surprise and constantly at war with Naples or someone in Italy - but they always seem to get big fatty alliances with either France or Austria.

Right its a random event. You get it if Castile and Aragon have opposite gender rulers before the year 1500 and both countries are not at war.
It is a very very unlikely event now that the deadline is 1500. When it was 1550, it was just unlikely. Castilla starts with a young king and an heir, both men. The odds of those two lasting from 1444 to 1500 is veeeeeery likely.

Seeing as in reality the marriage of Isabel I of Castilla and Fernando V of Aragón happened 19 October 1469, it is literally impossible that this happens in-game at the correct time. In game mechanics it is hard to get this every time at 1550, really unlikely that it happens before 1525 and once in a blue moon with the cut-off date of 1500.

I was going to say as rare as a visible comet, but seeing as that's about as common in EUIV as days that contain the letter y, I decided to change that analogy.

So it has been decided that this event should be really really rare, I certainly do not agree - enough that it is rare. A cut off point at 1525 would be more reasonable. Personally I just edit the game to allow this at 1550 like it was in 1.3 and earlier.

changingthe start date.. what?? I started with the date late in 1490's, ITs amazing what the game gives you.. every improvement you have ability to build in every province .. and a PU with Aragon! yippee
