Ai makes numerous claims on the same province

An odd little bug.

Playing as the Duchy or Orkney, saved last night due to time. At one point in the past I put in a claim against Western Isles, thinking it might come in handy.

When I restart the savegame almost immediately the AI from various different courts immediately puts in at least 20+ claims on the Western Isles. I replicated this after restarting a second time.

This has to be a bug - there's no reason why half of Western Europe would suddenly, within days, all decide they have dynastic claims on the Western Isles.

And yes - I have a save game if anyone would like it.

I guess the pope threw the ruler a exco I see theese mass claimings all the time when that happens.

I've seen something similar happening in all my games. Ever so often, half of Europe claims Western Isles.

Same here, except i've also seen it where the same nation will make several claims in a row on the save province on the same day.

as for the 'all claim western island' are you positive that theere wasn't a excommunication involved?

hmm... I'll double check the excommunication tonight. I'm fairly certain there was no excommunication though - it's the kind of thing I'd notice...

Ahhh...

For whatever reason, immediately upon starting the savegame Cornwall gets to be Papal controller, and from there it appears excommunictes Western Isles.

But isn't this a bug too? Why would all of Christian Europe suddenly use all theirhard-earned prestige to claim Western Isles? Surely there should be a factor for the AI in trying to assess whether to claim a title of how many other countrieshave claimed the same title...

yes that might be a bug that everyone claimed western isle's, on the other hand it might als e be because its seen as a weak target.

I think this is WAD and is happening when a character is excommunicated.

Cost is very cheap so the AI try to take advantage of it.

I will give it a bug number any way and see what Paradox says.

EDIT: We agree that the problem is that too many AI are trying to do this claim, so apart from the neighbours which have a chance to grab the province, for most of the other AI, this is a waste of prestige. Right ?
