I havent seen this one before, this is a great screenshot Nikolai, you've out done yourself.
Obviously there should be some trigger in the game to prevent this, Im sure its easy enough to fix.

Simple. There's another Pope somewhere, giving you his blessing to wage war on the one who is in Rome at that moment. 
Unfortunately I cannot correct the trigger for this event yet for it not to happen.
It's exactly the same problem when you receive templar troops while you may be at war with the Templar as a state.
