successfully assassinating someone lowers your reputation?

couldn't find this anywhere, so thought I'd post it.

Playing as Duke of Brittany, 1066 Scenario, Normal/Normal. first I assassinated my wife, so that I could marry Agns d'Aquitaine. The attempt was successful first time, I was not discovered, and yet my reputation dropped from honorable to respectable.

10 or so years later I assassinate my firstborn son, as my second born would then become first in line to the Duchies of both Brittany, Poitou and Bordeaux. And again my reputation dropped from honorable to respectable. Again the attempt was successful, and I was not discovered.

Seems a little odd to me that my rep drops when I was successful, and not discovered.

This also annoys me immensely too.
I see no point in having different messages, if you always get a bb for it regardless of the outcome.
Looking at the messages alone this cannot be WAD, cause what is the point of different messages then?

So they can't pin anything on you, but rumors float around...

Hehe yeah, but then a little randomness would be in order I guess.
The idea that ‘rumours’ can affect your bb even if not discovered, is quite good I guess..well I like it. But not always, 100% of the time.

yes, but the same effect happens if king of hungary assasinates the marshall in faro, who he has absolutely no connection with... just an example... wouldn't the people then suspect the marshalls evil twin bent on world conquest?

Yeah. So although nobody can proove anything of course they suspect the guy who is next in line in inheritance.
Great - since that is not me in most of the cases I use assassins!

It is a nice try, Grosshaus, but since you get the BB no matter whom you might try to assassinate, even somebody whom you gain absolutely nothing from killing at the other end of the world, it is a pretty poor attempt at justification.

There is no justification for gaining BB when undiscovered from a realism standpoint whatsover. However, from a game-balance perspective to make assassination less attractive as a solution, it sort of makes sense.

i almost never assasinate to inherit, i mostly kill of useless pagan/muslim courtiers that end up in my court after conquests

should there not be an execute command for them instead of assasination... round in these parts when someone defeated someone of a different faith they'd probably impale them or chop of their head and put it on a pole... they didn't take them back home...(well, they might have taken the head home and placed it at the gate...)

It's easier to convince others if I say it's realistic instead of a gamebalance issue ;)

Not if those you try to convince has an IQ above that of a lichen-covered rock and stop to consider the issue. :p
