You mentioned that there wasn't many events compared to some mods. Is it back to the level of HOI2 vanilla or has the level risen ? It's going to be wierd to play vanilla mode again, after so many years playing the game modded :)
Whatever the case, it's bound to be a step back from both TRP or CORE I presume. Or others - mod33 or mod34 alone should be in that lineup as well, and I'm sure I leave out plenty of others here. You just can't expect Johan to do both the improvements HoI3 brings as well as putting us modders out of business, now can you? ;)

liebgot: HoI2 was worse, IMO, as all same level (tank) divisions were pretty much same.

Edit. And there doesn't seem to be problem any more...

But the problem of HOI II were not historical names and references??

Now game engine can allow more profound diversification of units.
of course that T 34 division cant be the same as PZkw III division
But now there is not T 34 and PZkw III division.

Why????
Just now, exactly now when game can offer us real relative distinction between main historical combatants such as historical tanks ,exactly now to remove them from the game?

I dont believe,its not possible.
There will be referent design and we all will know T 34 had this level of armour, this tech of gun, this engine...
And that we will debate how our designes are different from historical references. It must be this way,any other path is dark one(for me).

Did you bother to stop your panic and read?

Johan states ages ago that flavor names will be in the game assuming you have the proper techs when you produce the unit.

There won't be a flavor name for every type of configuration though obviously.

Edit: So, as an example a Medium Tank with an Armor Level of 3, a Gun Level of 2, etc might end up being a T34 if you're the Soviets.

This is just an example and not specific.

I think what he says is correct, I just never paid any attention to that in my game.

Its panic man..you know..:D
I mean I play this game primarily becouse of its historical spice.

Many people dont look on that way, even maybee developer isnt aware of this fact, but hall HOI game is for many of us more than a game ,its one beautiful hughe historical spice we enjoy in free time of our lives.

Thanks for an incredible review Lothos, I know you looked at this game in a very determined and open view and gave your critics and praises where due. If ever, I feel most encouraged this will be a milestone of a WWII game and setting standards for a long time to come if not indefinitly. I feel we can sometimes can not give thanks enough to the devellopers of the idea and engine behind this very excellent game which is to come out. Even if some features might still be balanced even more, I think the time for us learning gamey cheats and trying to beat the engine at its own game, the more mods and patches will come out that will balance this game to an absolute must for any starting and grognard out there that likes this period for shear detail and possibilities. Lothos, I know we haven't seen much if anything by you in terms of remarks and opions for the year behind us, but this review is definitely making me feel very warm and comfortable having already ordered it.

Apart from the demo being released, this was absolutely the next best thing, and I mean that in its full capacity as I know for one I have been looking very much forward even at this time downloading such demo and probably spending many waking hours in the night going over it. Maybe the hold on the expected demo release makes it even better, reading your review.

I know how much you did in "our" TRP mod to balance and discover the very edge of HOI2's possibilities in terms of AI improvements and I still enjoy even looking at hands offs of that game and mod. Needless to say many of your improvements made it actually into the patches later on, and rightly so.

I was not aware you were not able to spend beta'ing HOI3, but I'm sure your expertise will be very appreciated in any, if required, mods/patches that make it through.

I look very much forward to Friday and feel almost yealours you already know more then most of us do about this already amazing game. Big thanks to all PI developpers for this opportunity and big thanks to you for an EXCELLENT review, and Johan having the faith to make/create a level 3!
