First Name Duplication

This may have been fixed, as I don't have the game yet (am working off of AAR's here), but it seems odd to me that brothers and sisters can have the same first names as one another (thus leading to all sorts of confusion).

Isn't there a way to block out names currently in use within the same family, or within the same country's court? Similar to how army and navy names were not used when already in use in other Paradox games?

And nobody has anything to say about the actual issue I brought up? On *this* forum? That's quite hard to believe....

The game simply picks a name from the cultural list, it doesn't look at the names of already existing older siblings. Maybe confusing sometimes, if you have many kids, but OTOH it was not unknown in the period for brothers to have the same name. I mean, there was a German family which named all its male children Heinrich.

Working as designed, perhaps. Confusing, yes. Something that might be worth considering changing....?

There was a beta discussion on this long ago, and it seems reusing names was *somewhat* common. In fact, look at the scenario setups and you will see this a lot.

And, I can attest to a personal friend who has the same name as an older brother (big family ).

Anyway, as has been mentioned, names are selected from a list, and duplicates are not checked for - WAD, as has already been judged...

And, to avoid the inevitable "this is my brother Bob, and my other brother Bob" type posts, I close the thread.
