As we have jumped ship, I thought I would bring back our last modding thread. Idea is simple, post a 3025 mech design. Anything goes!

If you haven't used a mech modeler before, remlab has a fairly simple one: http://remlab.sourceforge.net/. It has drop down menus for everything, which auto calculates tonnage use. Just click on what you want, then place it in the mech.

  1. [Click the Chassis Tab] Select Era and put 3025. Choose your MP, or movement point amount you want. More MP = more speed. If you're unsure just follow this guide. 3/4 Walking turret, 4/6 Foot Soldier, 5/8 Calvary, 6/9 + scout. A Black Jack is a 4/6, a Shadow Hawk is a 5/8, and a Locust is an 8/12 for example.
  2. Select the amount of jump jets and heatsinks you want.
  3. [Click the Armor Tab] Input armor amount. Battletech 2018 scales the amount of armor and damage done by 5 for visual goodness. For example, remlab shows 10 armor. This would equal 50 in the PC game.
  4. [Click the Armament Tab] Select the weapons and ammo that you want. ** Keep in mind the amount of heat this gear will build. At the top of the screen you will see Heat: ## / ##. This is the amount of heat you build if you alpha strike + run, and the amount you can dissipate per turn respectively. **
  5. At the bottom of the screen, or after clicking the [Allocate Items Tab], boxes with expandable options will be present. This is how you place your gear. Locations are abbreviated, so LA = Left Arm, LT = Left Torso, CT = Center Torso, RT = Right Torso, RA = Right Arm, LL = Left Leg, RL = Right Leg, H = Head,
  6. One finished, go to the top right of the UI, click Tech Readout, and hit ctrl + a to select everything. Simply copy and paste the result here.

The Stone Skipper 5G was designed as a brawler. As it's name implies, the mech bounds across the battlefield, skipping towards it's target. On the way, the mech utilizes its AC/5 to punch holes in its target. Upon reaching melee range, the Stone Skipper unleashes a torrent of MG fire while tearing armor plating off with its battle fists. If that fails to dismantle a target, Death from Above's can be carried out with heavily armored legs. The design's armor is not left lacking either, with 11 tons of protection.

Sorry will the pilot be that underestimates this mech on the battlefield.

A 80 ton jumping mech called the Thunderfoot. L-Laser, AC/5 and a LRM10 with 1 ton of ammo each and a few more heat sinks to keep the heat down if I jump and alpha.

More a long ranged fighter but with max armor it can deal with enemies getting in close and punch their lights out.

I don't remember how I first noticed, but it turns out that a 100-ton mech with 4/6/4 movement and max TT armor values has just 3 tons left. Which is enough for 6 small lasers!

I modded it in as a joke build in the beta, and while I can't imagine ever preferring it to a properly slow 3/5/3 mech with ~40 tons available... that melee really made it quite the juggernaut.

Speaking of which, if I'm calculating things right, a 75-ton mech with 4/6/4 movement and max TT armor should be able to mount 36 MGs. That's allowing for 4 tons of ammo so that you can get a decent number of salvos off.
;)

On a more serious note, while I like the standard Awesome and Hunchback, neither of them is at the optimal tonnage for their speed. Looks like the hardpoints should allow an Atlas to mimic the Awesome's loadout and the Orion to mimic the Hunchback. There's a good chance I'll build both of those at some point.

I like energy boats which is why i like the Black Knight very much. Sadly, i cant build my preferred version of the Black Knight (XL for 8 Movement, 2 ERPPCs 6 MPL with a lot of HS), so i made an era appropiate variant with 5 tons less.

This is a 70t Mech optimized for BT. 2 Large Laser are for long range use only, as soon as we are at Standard Range, i'd switch over and only use the 6 ML. With 14tons of armor, its fairly well armored and should be decent enough.

very nice build tool, thanks for that Capnflintlock.

my first try, melee assault with good range option:
- heatneutral max jump distance and dual ac10 for 3 evasive chevrons (4 with pilot skill?)
- full arms for melee bonus
- hard hitting DFA or melee
- max jump distance DFA with 6 small lasers heat neutral as well
