Unintuitave? Arguable. Badly presented? Absolutely? Unplayable? I think not. 2.2 is despite issues the moast fun I have ever had in this game. It just requres going into it to play the game that it is, not the one that it was. Dont over build, concider that Pops will always try to move up a straum if the jobs are there (as you would) and only reluctantly move back down (again, as would you). Thus try to have stockpiesof base resorces when making specalists that will carry you over the move.

If you go in like in the old tile system and build to capacity then yeah you'll have problems while the pops catch up. Thatswhat you get for playing the previous version's game under the new verion's rules.

Personally I like that its more deliberate, that I have to think about the population and my needs, the chains of supply. That I need to think 'what s this world for?'.

You seem to have a very specific approach to the game...I, however, try to play both tall and wide and everything in between in many different games. And it is definitely not only viable but most powerful when you go super, duper wide! But the price of that immense power is the constant balancing of the huge economy you've created for yourself. Sure, you can go tall and not have to worry about the micro so much. In fact, you can go tall on a tiny map, which cuts so many headaches, but what's the point of your comment? That we should all adopt that approach? That it's our fault for trying to go wide? It's a shameless apologist attitude, and I hope you realize that.

No micro needed. YOU made that assumption. All I am saying is moast of the greif people seem to be having is from playing 2.2 under the last versions asumptions of claiming a world, filling the tiles and letting pops sort it out.

You mean building a whole bunch of districts before you even have pops to work on them? You know districts have upkeep costs, right? So that's stupid.

Also, whether you do a whole bunch of clicks when you get a planet or do a few clicks every now and then, it's still a lot of clicks. Clicks are clicks, doesn't matter when or how you do them. My point is to REDUCE those clicks.

Constantly having to balance resources is actually good and the market is there for a reason to help out with short falls.

Early in the game you want to colonize 3 planets quickly: Mining World first, Agri World second generator world 3rd. You then want to keep adding planets like that in a set. Somewhere in there get a "generic" planet that isn't really good at anything in particular and make that world mostly focused on consumer goods (fill the sector with what you need while it's growing), while doing alloys and research in your capital (you really only need 2ish alloy factories at the start).

Later in the game you should have multiple specialist agri, mining and generator worlds and at least 1 specialized world for consumer goods, alloys and research.

Consumer goods tend to be the most difficult resource to "order" as you will probably have to have build a couple civilian industry buildings scattered on your planets here and there to keep up. Once you go the t3 consumer goods buildings just delete those scattered ones and move pops to fill the t3 buildings (which give 10 jobs) on your industrial world.

To be honest unless you are going nuts on alloys minerals are the easiest thing to get and stockpile, so is energy credits. Food is what you want the most so you can spam the growth boosting planet decisions.

I don't see what the problem is. The economy took a little getting used to but it's quite enjoyable when you do. Especially when you are balancing the economy and quietly wetting yourself over the fact that two bordering empires are quietly making claims on your systems. Made me regret sending in a marauder fleet to one of them early on to knock them down a peg or two.
In my current playthrough, I am trapped between hostile empires and have no crystals yet, nor the tech to produce. I am spending a lot of energy buying them and have none in my borders.... which is why I am building an invasion fleet as the empire next door has lots...

Well to be fair the game has been litteraly unplayable since the beginning I mean it takes click on steam, click on stellaris, click on play> brings up the launcher, click on play again, click on new game... Look at all the 'micro' before you even get to the game! Donteven get me started on choosing a portrait, desighning a species and civ... and then they added Syncretic evo? will the clicks never end?!

Have you tried using the governors yet? I've been using them in my recent game where I am now breaking at 85 planets and they are actually doing a pretty decent job at building them out. you just have to make sure you feed them minerals. They are not the most perfect at building out a planet, but they certainly make managing hundreds of planets MUCH better. I mean, once you reach an empire spanning hundreds of worlds I don't think you are super concerned about being 100% optimal with your planets anyway, which is where the governers shine currently.

They are not the most perfect at building out a planet, but they certainly make managing hundreds of planets MUCH better. I mean, once you reach an empire spanning hundreds of worlds I don't think you are super concerned about being 100% optimal with your planets anyway, which is where the governers shine currently.

My only problems with that is how clunky sectors are. They are WAY too tiny. Most sectors only end up with a single planet because there is literally nothing else colonizeable in the the entire thing. Sector size should really be quadrupled if not increased even further.

I honestly don't know where the idea that there's tons of micromanagement in 2.2 comes from. You don't have to worry about building placement anymore (thank god for that!), jobs literally assign themselves... You can basically just let it coast and build something once you get unemployment.

It’s actually not that difficult to force people into the jobs you want to be filled, just deprioritize the jobs you don’t want filled and they won’t fill it.

There is honestly just a LITTLE bit less micro than pre 2.2. But why so many has acquired the mindset that the micro is intensified is because there is a lot more you have to consider now, more menus to go through, and more choices you HAVE to make, which are pretty important. To those who are not used to such a depth of choices tend to mistake it for needless micro.

Basically before, all the worst "micro" was isolated to pretty much just the planetary screen and sectors. Now near to the same amount of micro is instead dispersed around multiple different screens and views. Menu naviggation is just far more prominent in this update, and the need to pay attention to these separate matters, even if the time spent there is pretty small, gives the illusion of increased Micro.

Really once everyone gets used to the UI and know where everything is at its going to start feeling far less micro intensive.

i've already fell into a pretty smooth routine when managing my empire, and it's honesty far more engaging than before. I'm glad im finally being kept busy even in peacetimes

Have you tried using the governors yet? I've been using them in my recent game where I am now breaking at 85 planets and they are actually doing a pretty decent job at building them out. you just have to make sure you feed them minerals. They are not the most perfect at building out a planet, but they certainly make managing hundreds of planets MUCH better. I mean, once you reach an empire spanning hundreds of worlds I don't think you are super concerned about being 100% optimal with your planets anyway, which is where the governers shine currently.

The governors never do anything in my game. I don't know if it's a bug or something. I'm glad you got it working, man, because as of now, I'm struggling with just 26 planets. I have to micro every single one of them and it's painful.

Well to be fair the game has been litteraly unplayable since the beginning I mean it takes click on steam, click on stellaris, click on play> brings up the launcher, click on play again, click on new game... Look at all the 'micro' before you even get to the game! Donteven get me started on choosing a portrait, desighning a species and civ... and then they added Syncretic evo? will the clicks never end?!

Yeah, mock the people who try to move the game towards a better direction. If players never complained, stuff like auto explore would never have been in the game. I've been on here since launch, and if it were up to people like you, we'd end up with a shitty clickfest game.
