Hi,

I've bought Cities in Motion.

I've a notebook :
OS : Windows 7 x64
RAM : 4GB
Graphic Card : NVIDIA GT 335M (1GB)

The game is very slow : 3 FPS maximum (and I've disabled all options).

Why it's very slow ? I can't play with this game.

Thanks,
Etanne

But, it's Intel Core i5 with a good graphic card (not the best, but good)

I've no problems with Cities XL 2011, Half life 2, Sim City series, Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Railroads,, etc...

I don't understand why this games uses so many ressources.

It's a bit slow for me as well, with pretty much the same computer setup. I imagine it's because the game has to make a, to use a scientific term, s**tload of calculations to keep track of all those individual commuters and their origins, destinations and pathfinding in-between.

I have a laptop with dual 5870m in Crossfire, 8gb RAM and a Core i7-720qm - the game really really slows down when you add a few lines. And 2 7200rpm HDD in Raid 0.

The only thing that comes to mind is that the game isn't using all 4 cores(8 including HT) OR there is an ATI issue which is less likely.

Just for fun, I ran the game on my T8100 laptop with an integrated Intel GM965 Express Chipset.
And surprisingly, it actually ran. Or well, ran is not really the word to describe it. But still. 3 FPS.
I was pretty impressed; I didn't expect a new game to even start up on this machine. And 3 FPS was actually (barely) playable.
So kudos I guess for making the game so graphically less intensive (though I guess everyone else on this thread will disagree).

Enjoy.

1. Your graphics card is ok (for a mobile gpu), but not good. You just meet the minimum system requirements with it.

2. Therefore you should reduce all the graphics settings to a minimum:
- No HDR (draws a lot of performance)
- No Antialiasing
- No Vsync
- Shadows to minimum
- Use the windows mouse cursor

3. If the steps in 2. don't help you have to reduce the Anisotropic Filtering and your resolution, too.

Even I have problems with the game, when there is much traffic and many lines on one place. But as you can see, the game performes with 15 frames/s but CPU-Usage is at 30% and GPU-Usage is at 27%. So there would be more than enough power if the game could use it.

My setting:
Intel Core 2 Quad 9550 @3,6 Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 5850 1GB
4 GB RAM

Gamesettings were "High" @ 1920x1080p.
After disabling the shadows, I get more frames, but there could be many more :)

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

But, I've 3 FPS with the graphics settings to a minimum (no Anisotropic and minimal resolution)

You could do also a screenshot like mine. Open taskmanager, and gpu-z. switch to the right tabs. Open CIM and press the windows-button on your keyboard and focus taskmanager and gpu-z. Do a screenshot (print-key) and post it here.

Yea, there seems to be some optimization issue.

I've Intel i-7 920, ati 6870HD, 6gb of ram, win 7-64bit... While the game runs fine. If i zoom out and put speed to max I drop down to under 10 fps, even with graphics at minimum, except for resolution (1920x1200)

And yes, I have latest drivers, precleaned with driversweeper.

Yeah i also get pretty average fps, still above 20fps though.

I run the game on everything max at 2560x1440. Have a Q9550 @3.4GHz, GTX570, 4gb ram. While playing my GPU usage is about 30%, cpu is about 40% across all cores and GPU memory usage is about 800 out of 1280.

Same for me

Its the same for me, I posted earlier a similar topic.

I've also got a brand new laptop, drivers updated, theres 4GB of RAM, No background programmes running, 1.5GB Memory in my Graphics card...

As with you I play other games-many new games like the Sims 3, with all the add on packs, and they run really smoothly. This game is really poor for me - but not so much with the speed any more but the fact that lots of the images are just not showing up!!

Here is a photo from my startup screen: Does anyone else get this image???

http://img842.imageshack.us/i/cimerrorpic2.jpg/

And here is a photo when I try to buy vehicles:

http://img833.imageshack.us/i/cimerrorpic1.jpg/

What is up with this?? Its really a shame, and I'm getting kinda annoyed that I paid out for this game I was looking forward to!!

Anyone else getting these 'blank' pictures???

Here is a screenshot from a busy part of Amsterdam! Four underground metro stations and hundreds of pedestrians waiting for the traffic jam to clear so they can pass the street.

I wonder what could be the bottleneck in my system. CPU load is 18% and GPU 38%..

I have a Core 2 Quad @ 3.4, HD4870 and 4GB RAM, and have about 15 FPS.
