Out if interest, why would you want to visit a port without unloading troops? You don't get any repairs, you don't suffer any more or less attrition than you would staying in the coastal province. I can't see any advantage over just staying put outside the port.

But if you take the right national idea you can do repairs while outside port.

...

From my observation, just remaining in friendly waters does not reset time at sea to 0; if this is so, you would want to enter a port en route to your destination, & doing so would reduce attrition. Usually, I just enter the stops along the entire route. However, there can be cases where you'd need to change plans: sighting enemy fleets, declarations of war, rebellions, loss of access to another port, there are many possibilities. And that was just one example of my general point, which is that almost all pauses, mouse or key board, are toggles, so if a window or battle pops up, they cancel your attempt to pause. I'd like to have a key, or the ability to define one, which flat-out pauses, regardless of the games status. Eg, q=pause, even if the game is paused.

Along the same lines, I'd like to be able to define a zoom in & a zoom out fast button, instead of using the mouse wheel, which sometimes takes several pushes for extreme momement. IMO, it's easier to hit a key a bunch of times.
