No one is suggesting it is quick or easy to design nice 2D artwork, but it's just such a shame that in every HoI game so far the navy has been treated like a poor relation. So in HoI IV, in terms of artwork, we have:
Army: generic 2D artwork, generic 3D models, unique 2D artwork for the major powers, DLC 3D models for tanks
Air Force: generic 2D artwork, generic 3D models, unique 2D artwork for the major powers
Navy: generic 2D artwork, generic 3D models, DLC 3D models for a few heavy cruisers
In addition to this, all of the ships just have black silhouettes when viewed as part of a flotilla (division), whereas tanks and planes have their own colored 2D artwork, or at least the generic colored 2D artwork (for minor nations). Ships don't even get this, even for USA, UK, GER, etc.
I suppose we should be thankful that Paradox decided to make leader portraits for famous admirals?
