When I first started editing the mod, I focused on cultures. This was mainly because many of the cultures that you, Jon, approved of several pages back still weren’t in the mod. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have expected much. Yet, I decided to input most of the ones that didn’t generate a “no” response. However, I tend to take a more liberal view on cultures, that if a minority is present, it should at least get a province in order to have the potential to cause chaos. So, I added several more to see what you think. Unfortunately, most of the name/dynasty code for these new cultures was copy/pasted from the existing cultures, with exceptions to Scottish and the Tibetan languages, where I actually found lists of current names. Also strangely, almost none of these cultures could be found in the new cultures thread.
Here we see the cultures of Western Europe, ones that were approved by Jon, and several that are more suggestions. These are the exact reason why I am posting here before updating the current code. Anyway, here are the “approved” cultures:
Andalusian Dialect – Spanish group
Sicilian – Italian Group
Scottish(anglo-scottish) –English Group
Icelandic/Faroese –Scandinavian group. Technically, these ones were ambiguously approved. Even though Jon didn’t say much on them, I found these guys fully coded in the culture files, so I just gave them counties to represent.
Irish –Gaelic. I originally had Irish with both Galloway and Limerick. In hindsight I don’t know how I could even justify Limerick, so Irish just holds Galloway. This is the only region with a significant Gaeltacht population as well as a significant amount of people who state that they can speak Irish as a second language. If Irish doesn’t have any provinces, like its current setup and is just as the king, an Irish restoration could both be too easy and end on a bad inheritance.
Possible Cultures:
Galician –Hispanic. This one was iffy. I approve of it, since Galician is currently different from Portuguese. It could be considered similar back in 1337, however considerable time under Spain has Hispanized the Portuguese. It’s up to you, Jon, if this one stays.
Meridional and Neapolitan. These are both dialects of French and Italian respectively. Meridional is the French dialect of Occitainia, and is widely used – similar to an accent. It is French, but is different, similar to Scottish and English. Similarly, Neapolitan is an accent of Italian. I didn’t really think that I should have added this one, however I didn’t like how Italian and Sicilian lined up on the map. Besides, this reinforces the north-south split. I’m not going to defend these two, they are just suggestions.

The cultures of Eastern Europe. Unlike the West, there aren't many cultures actually added to the game. Rather, several provinces were changed to other cultures. However, there are two knew cultures on the map. First, Dagestani which was added in the South. This one was approved. The second one is Samoyed. Now, I know that Samoyed technically holds no majority anywhere in Russia. However, there is no way in CK2 to say that there is nobody living in a region. One the map is finalized, I expect these provinces to be ruled by Russians, and have only a single holding with only a level one castle. I think these provinces should be Samoyed since they are the tribes who roam the empty land.
The two notable changes to Middle East were the destruction of the Arabic blobs and the Expansion of the Persian group. Both of these changes were semi-approved, you Jon, wanted to break up the Arabs, and approved of Lur. I also added Mazandarani in the north, since it is a notable minority. Omani and Yemeni have placeholder names, since I couldn’t find their translation from Arabic to English. Similarly, Berber is finally correctly represented among its Arab brothers.

Not technically a cultural map, yet it is important to the makeup of the Middle East. In the past, I’m fairly certain religions were copy-pasted on the kingdom level. This is a better representation of what’s actually going on, yet it is not perfect.
I also worked on Africa, during my second weekend. However, finding religious divisions are even harder in Africa since there isn’t that much info. Plus, in West Africa people tend to mix Christianity, Animism (West African), and Islam.
