-200 Opinion Modifier: what is that?

Alright, I just have a highly weird situation:
I as Prussia am for 200 years allied with Sweden, basically since I helped them in their independence war. We fought a couple wars together, have a RM, alliance and Opinion is always better than 100.

Then, out of the blue, I get the Info that our alliance is broken (don't know by whom, though). I check their opinion and everything is fine. I wanted to offer a new alliance and they would agree but....MY opinion is negative!
When I checked, I found the following extremly weird modifier: irritated over claims -200!!!!
It will take 100 years to get rid of that! My Alliance is well and truly done for.

Now where the heck does THAT come from? Nevermind that I find MY opinion getting in the way of my Plans in generall weird, but this is really ridicilous, escpecially since I have no idea where this comes from. Sweden has just one claim on a province of mine, but this is really old and they have no other CB against me.

Any thoughts or experience with this?

Nope. Just Platin vanilla 1.5.1. it just mysteriously appeared around the year 1640.

Must have come from an event that Sweden got. They pissed you off without your knowledge.

Do you either have any claims on them or have they tried to claim your throne?

I don't think either one of those would cause that -200 relations, but it might be a place to start.

We have RM, but my ruler is 56 and the legitimate heir 20something. I can't see why they should have claimed a throne at that point. I will see if I can find anything in this regard.

If you have a saved game of it, then I would. Definitely sounds like an error in a calculation somewhere.

The negative irritated over claims penalty is cumulative, right? I suppose it's possible they happened to get a spate of them in a row--unlikely but if you share a long border certainly conceivable.

Check other countries that have RMs with them to see is they have the same modifier. Every country you have an RM with gets ticked off when you claim a throne (not just the one whose throne you claimed) so maybe they were really spamming claims, or the AI goofed up and made them claim a single throne repeatedly somehow.

Edit: or is 'Claimed throne' a different modifier? I definitely thought you got a notification when someone got an event claim on one of your provinces...

The opinion modifier is -50 each time.

I also would be surprised if it is the claim throne multiplier. I tried that a while ago and this modifier has a different text.

I can't think of anything else then, unless maybe you have a vassal or union partner they are feuding with.

But sounds like a bug.

This happened to me twice, once when I was playing Italy and once when I was the Ottoman Empire, my ally was France in the two cases. From what I saw, it seems that they got claims on my territory (several provinces in Italy and India respectively) due to missions. Something similar must have happened to you.

Provinces separated by a single sea province act as if they bordered each other. You can get claims on them and, iirc, they generate border friction.

Sweden gets a mission which gives them claims up and down the Baltic coast, don't they? As Prussia, you probably own that land, so its a reaction to Sweden suddenly laying claim to all of it at once maybe?
