ok, I saw 2 weird things, I put them in one thread. Please moderators, if you feel like changing to sub-forum don't hesitate =

1 - One of my vassals (I'm king of Naples) - the Duke of Tiberias has a son - the son is a vassal to his father - so the son rules a county. Then the Muslims attack the duchy of Tiberias and I go to the rescue of my vassal. Tiberias is taken by Muslims but the Muslims haven't taken the sons county yet.

I check = the son is still vassal to his father - that father is still my vassal. But the duke of Tiberias only has one title = duke of Tiberias. He has no county available - no land !

The game doesn't crash and after I defeat the muslems I give back county of Tiberias to duke of Tiberias who has again some land to live in.

now that's weird and it seems to account for one source of landless lords - so guys having a son - ruling a county...

2. Another - even more weird occurence ! I (king of Naples AND North Africa) see that 2 of my vassals are at war - I join the war on the side of duchy of Sardinia - that duke is of my dynasty. The other vassal is the duke of Tunis and belongs to other dynasty. So I'm at war with the duke of TUnis - but he's still my vassal. So I take all his land and make peace =

I force the duke of Tunis to renounce to all claims = including the claim to king of Naples.

The result = the duke of Tunis becomes king of Naples and I become King of North Africa (my second king title).

I'm 99,9999999% sure I clicked the green scroll in the negotiation sreen = so he should give up his claim on my kingship title of Naples...

really annoying !!!

Regarding number 1, that can happen happen. It seems landless AI dukes and kings don't like to revoke counties from their sons to get back to play, which is somewhat reasonable, as the son is often their heir.

Regarding number 2, sounds like you gave him your king title by accident. :)

I think we should call this "Accidental Gavelkind".

Also, check your before-and-after prestige score. Your prestige should've taken a hit after trading a kingdom title for a ducal one.

Guess what ? ! ?

I can confirm this as a bug ! I got it again and this time I checked the history log. I didn't make a mistake, it's a nasty bug.

the situation = I play Jordan d'Hauteville, king of Naples and North Africa (and a lot of other stuff), Jordan is at war with Alphonse d'Hauteville, count of Constantine.

Jordan squashes Alphonse and I grab all disputed claims, then I lose the kingtitle on Naples and become king of North Africa... That loser, Alphonse becomes king of Naples (outrageous :D ). The history logs reads =

"Alphonse makes peace with Jordan and Jordan gets title of king of Naples and count of Constantine, Alphonse pays some indemities"
"Jordan, king of North Africa has a claim on the title king of Naples",

so there's definately a bug - when you get a dynasty member to recognise the title of king of Naples, you loose that title and you get a claim on it...you become king of North Africa...

nasty bug !

Interesting.

in regards to the first - I have seen this also, the King of georgia was sitting in limbo without land but his realm (what was left of it) was intact. Also with the Duke of catalonia. I like this (can be confusing tho) it helps keep kingdoms intact.

As to the second, bizarre. I am playing as the king of Naples (1066 scen) and also have the kingdom of North Africa. The county of Foggia and Constance declared independence but I did not declare war on them. They asked to be my vassals and I accepted (so my vassals were at war with my vassals). The AI refused to finish investing the forts and faffed around until I got tired of it.

I saved the game and declared war on foggia, successfully annexing. Huge loyalty hits to all my vassals. So I reloaded and decided to leave them to it. I dont know when...but they were not at war with each other and the existing rulers were still there. ho hum.

But your problem did not occur (possibly because I did not come to the aid of the Duke of Sicily?)

Well, could you provide a save that has this situation (ie, you are in war with somebody and when you do peace, the situation does not go as it should)?

#1 yea I see that happen once or twice in a game... ususally with AI controlled area's.. as soon as it does and if the line of fealtly/vassalship isn't straightened either by giving out land like you did or liberal use of the "Die" cheat, you start seeing regular CTD's. Doesn't happen right away so I suspect it's tied to a MTTH event for the landless character... ( hmmm.... actually the more I think about it the more sense that makes sense... ... MTTH gets queried what 3~4 times a year.. right? thats about the right frequency for the CTD's to occur... and the game is probably set up to query MTTH right after a save or autosave... )

OK I'm sure Mr. T and co. already know all this so I'm wasting time...

#2... your SURE that box isn't red??? just kidding... never seen it but then I'm ususally content to let the enemy keep his claim so long as I have the land and title!! :p

pf, I just went into my save files and it seems that Alphonse didn't have the claim on Naples, after reloading. From the circumstances I got the split of my kingtitles, I recall he was a child-count with a claim on my title.

So I can't provide you with a reproducing buggy file. I somehow "manipulated" and dow'd on a duke that also had the claim on Naples. But then the peace event worked totally fine - but that guy was from another DNA string (some muslim looking guy) and was not a child. I really doubt that DNA has to do with it... :D

It's going to be hard to find a really reproducable buggy file - but I'm looking into it - especially because it fired 2 times already on me =

but to all of you - watch out for peace deals with members from your dynasty, when they have a claim on your king title - especially if the character is still a child ... (Alphonse was a child).

Ok, I'll send you a rar-d save file when I get my hands on one...
