Hi guys,

I played Stellaris for the majority of the past week and wanted to propose 2 extremly simple changes that will make the game much much better:

1. Reducing fortifications on a planet should reduce the damage, defenders take to 1x (not 2x) - right now fleet is everything, as you can conquer planets with half as good ground armies (so any traits and techs that affect ground combat are usless as you will never be able to win, so why bother?) - this would make ground combat mean something at least, as attacker could swap armies or send reinforcments and defender (becouse of starships blocking) couldn't. Some lacking strategic balance for ground combat :)

2. Increase armor values for ships, as right now it's obvious to choose shields over armor and no real way to counter torpedoes (point defense can be overrun).

Those are tiny changes in the game files, while great quality changes to make playing much more balanced and enoyable.

I like your ideas, I'll probably work them into a mod later this afternoon (at least the ground armies changes).

What I'm thinking initially will be to strengthen the defensive armies and slightly reduce their maintenance, then add in some additional technologies that open up defensive attachments which increase army health so that they can hold out longer in a siege/ground invasion.

The goal would be for it to be very difficult to conquer fortified planets, since there is only so much that orbital bombardment can accomplish without simply glassing the planet.

It does just seem to be a number grinder at the moment for army battles.
