And I got Peasants War... It has now been on for the past two decades and doesn't seem to go away eventhough I can fend off the rebels easily. Is it War of the Roses redux instead of having it as a specific event-chain?

Assuming you don't have my hotfix then Peasants war is bugged. It's meant to last for a minimum of 1000 days, but instead it won't end if it's lasted over 1000 days. Open the console and use "event 3026" to end it, or check the link in my sig.
