2 Indias?

Relatively inexperienced HOI4 player here trying a UK King's Party run. Not entirely sure how but I seem to have managed to puppet 2 versions of India.



The big one (India proper) hates me due to claims on all of India, whereas the French Indian single province one loves me and has the Commonwealth Ties focus bonus. What do I do going forward? I assume the single province is the only thing that will apply for going down the Imperial Federation route. I think what happened was I already had an Indian Puppet from beating France separately and should have taken the land for them rather than puppeting India proper.

Any way to fix this?

This is possible with collaboration governments. You could have the following 4 exist at the same time:
1. Free India / British Raj / India
2. Communist / Fascist rebel India
3. Goa based Portuguese India
4. Pondichery based French India

China gets even more muddled, where it's possible for 7 or 8 possible China's to exist at once!

From an Imperial Federation perspective, this is actually a very good thing. An indepedent India wont allow you to take either of the 2 India focuses, even if they're in your faction, so now you can declare war on India, and give all territory to your puppet that likes you.

Neither are collaboration governments (at least as far as my limited knowledge of collab govt. goes). French India is just France's old possession taken in an earlier peace deal. Big India is what used to be the British Raj before they went independent and I warred them down and puppeted them using the claim focus. I didn't realise at the time that I was creating 2 identical puppets. They are both using the same focus tree but now going down different paths.

Problem is that they are both now my puppet. I definitely should have given the territory to my already puppeted India but I forgot they existed because they got taken over by big India right at the start of the war and I didn't scroll down through my subjects to check. The focus only affected the OPM India so looks like Imperial Federation will only be the single province in India.

Ironman for the Imperial Fed achievement. Ah well, ended up just getting the OPM and the big one remains an unwieldy puppet. Shame but I don't know I could have changed anything else.
