2.8.0, every DLC up to date activated, including Sunset Invasion. No mods, Ironman.

Ok, this is pretty annoying and serious:

I own only one top-level title, a kingdom (Transoxiana/Sogdiana) if it matters. I have been feudal and following Agnatic-Cognatic Gavelkind from almost start. I have had sons all the time and inheritance has been as it should for several generations, junior sons inheriting their share but always staying in the same realm as the eldest son has always inherited the only kingdom title.

What is new that my last king had only daughters, 3 of them. Once I knew the death was coming, I kept oversized demesne and too many duchy titles for a while to ensure my eldest daughter would inherit a solid base and titles to share around. Normally I would have landed the junior sons already to go under max demesne/kept duchy titles, but obviously this was not possible as you cannot land women in Agnatic-Cognatic. All of the daughters were underaged.

What happened is that the title and demesne inheritance went somewhat predictably but the MY SECOND DAUGHTER WENT INDEPENDENT. She got a couple of duchies to her name but I think all of them were de jure part of Transoxiana. Her primary duchy, Fergana, holds no de jure land as I lost those counties a while ago, but the duchy has not been lost due to usurpation or land requirement (I believe I have that game rule). Her secondary duchy title is Khiva, I believe, and most of her lands are in Merv, which is not de jure part of my realm but recently counquered, the Merv duchy is uncreated or not yet usurped as I planned to to give that title to her later for opinion boost.

She won't accept vassalization, of course, because she is very powerful and the rank difference is only one: king>duke. Now I have to kill her to get those lands (about half of my entire realm) back to the mother realm. Or force vassalize her or go to title wars. I very well know challenge is the crucial element in the game and regencies and having only daughters should pose problems and I enjoy it thoroughly but this is ridiculous and obviously a bug. This kind of thing should happen only in ELECTIVE Gavelkind, not regular one.

Ironman save attached, I let the game run for a couple of days/weeks after the succesion to see if the situation stays. It stayed and I quitraged.

I don't think it has anything to do with gavelkind. Elective gavelkind only gives independence to non-primary heirs when it's possible to create same-tier title for them. F.e. In your case it would created second kingdom if you had >50% of it's territory and elective gavelkind.
I think I noticed some weird bug about characters go independent when they inherit titles that are not de jure vassals of liege's primary title, but I don't have enough info to post report yet. Hopefully it will fix itself in 2.8.1.

I'm not saying this is Gavelkind issue but it is clearly something that relates to inheritance/succession. I have no idea what happened, and I'd very much like the devs look into this. I have not opened the game again but IIRC the junior daughter had duchy of Fergana as her primary one, the other one being Khiva. Both are de jure Transoxiana/Sogdiana. She had all of the Merv (but not duchy title IIRC), too, which was not de jure Transoxiana.

I have not played an Elective Gavelkind but I thought there is a possibility to vassals just declare their independence even if there is no new top-level title created. Just like nomads do. That's the reason I mentioned Elective Gavelkind.

In any case I don't think this should happen and I'd like to have it fixed. While it's not entirely gamebreaking - I can still plot to kill the younger sister or go to war against her - it's certainly very annoying especially because I have give blood, sweat and tears to get my realm to this point, with angry infidels everywhere and giant Tibet blob next to me (not less angry or infidel) and I have managed reasonably well without too much gaming, and even staying with Gavelkind. Actually I like Gavelkind but one reason is that the council haven't allowed me to institute Late administration... :)
