Normally, if a baron has no family, his line of succession has only one character: his liege count. However, if he happens to have the Bastard trait, other members of the liege's family are listed as "pretenders".

This is visible in the UI when hovering the title crown. More importantly, it causes those "pretenders" to consider murdering the bastard's liege, in the vain hope of becoming heir to the bastard's title. That's how I discovered the bug: I discovered a distant family member plotting to murder me with seemingly no reason, and traced it to him believing himself to be a "pretender" to one of the many baron-tier castles I stood to inherit.

A quick way to reproduce the bug:

1. Play as a feudal ruler who has a family and an extra castle (county or barony)
2. Find a controlled courtier with no family (or create one using the 'promote commander' decision)
3. Use the console to `add_trait bastard <their id>`
4. Grant them the extra castle
5. Hover the title crown to see its line of succession

This issue is harder to avoid in version 2.8.0. AI rulers now grant castles and feudal counties to bastards frequently, when previous they would have used "create new vassal".
