I... just... what?
Make a Merchant Republic in Wales, with a county I just took form a county conquest and a duchy I just created, and the moment I unpause, I'm told my younger brother is now the heir to the throne. I check the succession line in laws section, and my son doesn't show up anywhere, as if he doesn't exist. Succession is reg. Gavelkind, so it wasn't like the ruler of the new MR (who did instantly became one of my powerful vassals) decided they wanted someone else either.
the Grand Mayor of the MR, like I said, served as the courtier of a vassal's court. Maybe my brother's? I was just looking for someone landless of my faith that was Content with a decent Steward skill, didn't pay much attention as to who I was taking them from.
Thankfully, closing and restarting the save fixed it, son is now back in the line of succession, but I'll upload the save anyway.
