Trade Post owned by no one. That's new.
Save file attached to the thread. I gotta say I'm not too keen continuing this save now..... And the forum engine filtering uploaded files by extension is pretty much lol too. ck2 extension, not allowed. Zipped in, same size, allowed. Security, right......

Edit: Oh I forgot, used DLC's are: Old Gods, Sons of Abraham, Reapers, Legacy of Rome, Way of Life.

Yeah, we came to the same conclusion. However, I suspect another related issue lying somewhere because we also have an issue with infinite Black Death, bypassing the islands thing. I've had a quick look at the script but couldn't find the source of the problem, but a ticket has been created for that situation as well, and content designers should be much more qualified than I am to correct the problem.

Arthur

Arthur keep in mind. That fix of his only fixes the epidemic if its more than 1 province.. Me and others here have seen issues where its only 1 province affected and when it ends it immediately jumps to a new province but never spreads more than the currently 1 affected province. It usually is stuck in a back and forth pattern and never ends... Just changing a number to 2 in the files does not fix this specific variety of the bug! In my save game it didn't fix it

Arthur

I don't think it's just sea zones - I have epidemics stuck in northern Italy and in eastern India, in both cases connected to plenty of provinces. The epidemic in Sardinia has also spread to mainland Italy several times since 801, each time dying out on the mainland but remaining on Sardinia.

I've heard of this previously and here I am feeling it for the first time.

Started as one of the Turkish khans in 769, Yagabububadudodoobie or something. Conquered my way to Debul and made a republic and here we are not to many years later.

http://imgur.com/a/0cuP7
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pey2kpf0vuef30g/Ironman_Turkestan.ck2?dl=0

I also had the infinite raiding glitch occur in this game. I got close to 12k in gold from the very province that this outbreak stuck in my capital started from. I guess that is karma for taking all that money. :D

I wonder if a province being heavily pillaged will affect the outbreaks there somehow?

I've had this happen a couple of times. I stuck it on observe mode and switched to the disease map mode view (shortcut "k"); the issue seems to be that land provinces will clear out the disease over time as intended, but there is always a single sea province that does not ever lose the disease, for centuries, and continually infects adjacent land provinces. Biggest culprit in games I've noticed is the Waddenzee near Holland, as I've been playing in England a lot lately. So, you will see the same epidemic disease pop up and die out pretty much non-stop in the adjacent land provinces until the end of the game. It's a pain in the ass when your capital is adjacent to that sea province; it's pretty much game over if you are a small dynasty at that point.

On a positive note, I've used it to my advantage by granting those adjacent titles to my rivals or pathetic heirs just to kill them off or cripple their ability to do anything harmful as they're typically depopulated counties with little to no income due to near constant epidemics.

It's a serious issue guys.
Devs please release a hotfix for this, cause we can't wait for a big patch to solve it.;)
Many people can't play the game due to this bug so please make the hotfix happen.

Cheers.

Lol dream on. They will fix it in the big patch and will throw in all the map changes in the world too so the saves will be incompatible. Hotfix ain't making money.

That would be a very bad move from Paradox. I hope the won't do it that way.

@Arthur-PDX
With all due respect, that's not a small issue to look at it when you have the time (Paradox not you specifically). ;)
So could you make sure that the specific game breaking bug gets a higher priority ticket ???

Cheers.

Coming from someone with no programming experience... I imagine in my own mind that a "simple" solution would be to add a hard terminator condition to all epidemics and outbreaks. Some layman pseudo code would be something like this that runs as part of one of the annual heartbeats in the game.

"if outbreakTime = 10 years
terminate outbreak"

Until a real solution is developed you can even add a cheeky event text if this happens to the effects of the god of the local religion has created a miracle.

10 years is perfect as a max. Most historical epidemics rarely lasted for more than 5. Im surprised Paradox didn't have it set up the way you described to begin with...

Stopped my game after more than 40 years of black death throughout all of feudal Europe. I thought it was because of agressive epidemics in game rules but looks like that's not that. Fighting wars with 600 max supply limit gets old eventually, even if there's typically no more than 100 defenders in the siege. Disapointed that nothing has been done to fix it yet.

I may have a temporary fix, however you will not get any achievement since this change the checksum.

Copy the files for the Black Death into a mod, then delete those events which triggered the Black Death. Once the bug is fixed, you can delete the mod. So far (about 50 years in), I have not had any issues.

Been digging a bit in the files. I'm confused, I don't see how infection is supposed to end in a province. I found the bits in disease.txt and defines, but it's all about spreading. Is the duration in months how long this is supposed to last? Looks like fine in this reguard, that's a few years long +/- 25% duration...

Could it be that if an epidemic can't reach its max size (almost impossible to infect tribal/nomad counties), it won't stop spreading and thus infect again and again the same provinces, thus causing trouble in early bookmarks?

I've been around for many yrs but lately I just feel the Devs aren't taking our issues as seriously as they should and I'm not happy with this. The specific issue is surely game breaking for many people and the workaround won't prevent the Black Death glitch from happening. I have posted in another thread also and no answers yet. Many people have sound issues and reported them (in another thread) and no official answer as well. Is there a national holiday lasting a month or what ??? The first report of that bug is almost a month ago and you can't upload a hotfix ??? And it's not the only bug in 2.7.1, if you check the threads you will see many reports with no official answer for over a month. Come on Paradox people, you know we love and support you. Please don't make us regret it.

Cheers.

Almost 180 years with black death

Not only black death. There must be atleast 10-12 total broken epidemics so far in that save... That's ridiculous! And to think Paradox doesn't think its worthy of a hotfix.. How can that even be playable.. You can't seriously expect us to play while secluded the whole game can you?

Yo,

I'll just remind you all that a ticket has been made, and although the team doesn't necessarily answer threads all the time, I can assure you we're at least taking a look at them, see how things develop, etc... So, although we can't be on all threads at once, you can at least be sure I'm stalking this one.

The ticket is already made, as I mentioned, and already has not-low-priority set. The reason why there's no quick hotfix/patches for this issue in particular (or others of similar severity), is because the process to create, test, validate and push a version is a bit more complicated and resources-heavy than one might think (although thank the gods we're not on PS4/X1... I'd have jumped in front of train in that case...). I won't get in the details because there's probably an NDA I haven't read somewhere in my contract, but basically, pushing for a patch/fix/release of any kind is trickier than it sounds.

And let's be clear, I'm not trying to *justify* anything, just to *explain* so you can have a bit more visibility... well... as much as I can give at least, he he.

I hear you when you say this bug is annoying, and it's not the only that made it in 2.7.1 (I think there was a wonky AI during crusades thing ; been fixed in our internal versions since at least). If I can convince the pertinent people to have a patch before our next "big" release, that'd be nice and all, 'cause I'd enjoy seeing some issues fixed for you as well, but I cannot promise anything - in the end it's not my decision. So... maybe...

Tho not the news you've been waiting to see, I hope it at least gives *some* visibility on what's going on.
