Faction calculations are done daily instead of whatever the refresh period was in 2.6.x. (I'm guessing monthly).

This absolutely tanks the performance in mid/late game as it has to be done for every single pop in galaxy.

I reported this yesterday but can't seem to find it. I also noticed my pops shuffling back and forth between factions on a daily basis. I also attached a savegame.

Edit: Just read about the Forum database crash. Guess my bug report was deleted as well. I basically noticed the same thing. for example, the support for my spiritualist faction would change to a random number between 16 and 18 on a daily basis, so in the long run it was constant, with daily fluctuations.

You mentioned that you are aware of a performance hit, but you did not mention that you already know what is responsible (I guess this conforms that the culprit are indeed the factions). I hope this means we get a fix soon! :)

I can say for certain that the performance fix will be included in 2.7.2 when it releases. (and to curtail any panic, remember that you are already on 2.7.1)

I can't see many people picking up the game after playing during the free week when the patch used is unplayable after 2400.

You are 100% correct. Free weekend to play what exactly? Stellaris is no way in a playable state right now.

I just started a new game on 2.7.1 (medium galaxy/600 stars, synthetics) and I experienced freezes right from the year 2208. Huge and horrible ones. I mean it hangs even when the game is on pause with the main menu opened and you just hover the mouse over the menu options...stutter, stutter, stutter, and short freezes.

In previous build, before the anniversary patch, I had no major issues as the performance was slightly improved...finally. The game was playable and now is no more...RIP Stellaris for the moment. Too bad as I was really excited to play the current build with at least the same performance NOT worse. :(


My PC build is:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6850K CPU @ 3.60GHz (12 CPUs), 16Gb RAM DDR3, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X (256-bit), WD HDD 1TB, 7200rp (game location), windows 10 (Samsung SSD 960 pro 512GB)...

And when is 2.7.2 planned for? What timeframe are we talking about here approximately? Are we talking days or weeks?

As it's paradox... expect it in weeks rather then days
