Was going for a comfortable Romuva Reformation game in the Duchy of Pruthenia (Ironman, of course).
Aztec Invasion was set to Delayed Random.

September 790, I get the Story Event Popup detailing the Aztec Fleets landing in Marocco.
I then check the Independent Realm ledger, and, indeed, there is a 100k army strong Aztec Empire.

What I did not expect, is that it was given to the Catholic 11 year old ruler of Capua. Name and Culture appear to have changed, but apperance and religion remained.

Thus this bug report since:
  • Aztec Invasion triggered way ahead of its Game Rule defined time frame.
  • It completely miss-triggered and awarded itself to an already existing character.
  • Said character wasn't even in the original trigger region (Marocco).

Savegame attached, have fun figuring that one out.

That is a thing? Damn.
Would explain how a catholic 11 year old became emperor of the Aztecs.

I would agree with Xinckc though, it should not override the dates for normal Aztec invasions that harshly.
Or, at the very least, give us a differently flavoured event that clearly states the Aztec's were invited by some higher evil.

At least, after a couple decades, they're still sitting in their single county, because as Catholic in Italia they apparently lack the ability to DoW anything nearby.

Got the same issue, and I agree...it shouldn't be possible for an event to overwrite the rules like that. There is absolutely no way anything in 8th century western europe can stand up to them (I imagine they'd die pretty quickly against romuva or slav tribals thanks to attrition, but there's very few provinces with a cripplingly low supply limit in their main invasion area that you can starve them out in).

Actually, the Aztec Special Doomstacks (and afaik Mongols, too) are immune to attrition.

It does have a different flavor (specifically in the “rumours” narrative event is different), so players who actually read the narrative messages should be aware that this isn’t the usual Sunset Invasion.

Really, I don’t see it as overriding the game rule. If you turn off the Sunset Invasion, it doesn't happen, but otherwise that rule sets when the Aztecs will arrive “naturally”. Once you allow supernatural events, it makes sense for them to be able to come early with demonic help. It might be reasonable to reduce the troop numbers on some sort of year-based scale, but I definitely don’t think it should be removed entirely.

Actually, I just realized it’s a non-optional event that forces abdication, which means that in addition to messing up Europe, which I’m kind of OK with, it can steal a player's character without any chance to avoid it. That is definitely something I disagree with.

In any case, I don’t think it counts as a bug.

Didn't get a rumors narrative event at all. I actually got blindsided by the event. Luckily I'm in Saxony.

As for it not being a bug, I strongly disagree. I posted the game rules I had active for that reason. It says the invasion will occur no earlier than 1000 A.D. and at least 50 years after start. There's no other qualifier for the rule. The situation breaks both those marks. It's a bug since the game explicitly says it shouldn't happen.

In my game, I was a demon spawn countess in Persia (Karen game) and I am losing my player character as she travels to the new world (I have found no way to stop this yet). It's maddening as I was looking forward to playing as a demon spawn for quite a while (the character is 18, and so has a very long life ahead of her). I'm stopping this game because this occurrence is so frustrating.

I'm bumping this because there has been several new threads in Bug Reports on the subject, none of them have been addressed, and this thread has at least a couple of game saves.

This is an inherent issue with the event for demon spawn to bring in Aztecs. The game rule for Sunset Invasion, as I've shown above, says nothing about being circumvented by a supernatural event. It says nothing about a "natural" invasion as I've seen some people try to explain away. The event needs to be redone to respect the damn game rule. Before the game rule allows it, give the demon spawn a large adventurer stack with Sunset Invasion composition and Aztec/Nahua courtiers and commanders. After the rule allows it, let the event stand as it current does if Sunset Invasion hasn't fired.
