Here the screenshot with the Game Rules setting , showing "Sunset Invasion" to "13th Century"
They arrived way too early (the shot was taken in 807, but they arrived some years before, I was just lazy to post here when the event fired)

Problem is that "Sunset_invasion.txt" has this:

AND = {
has_game_rule = {
name = aztec_invasion
value = historical
}
year = 1250
}

But in the save file ( since 2.7 ?? ) is written "what is not default"

So there is just

game_rules=
{
supernatural_events="unrestricted"
}

(see: there is no aztec_invasion="historical" )

Honestly I like the Demon Mongol Aztec Empress invading to do battle with my Norseman wielding Mjolnir in 905, for some reason the invasion was only 2 stacks of 50k, which is pretty easy to beat over a few years anyways

The Aztec invasion seems to be even more bugged than only that actually.

Apart from not respecting game rules some really weird interactions are happening with them, like the demon mjolnir wielding above.

On my game, as soon as the aztecs came (300 years earlier than they should might I add) their emperor died (vanished without a trace) and instead of another aztec inheriting the empire it went to some random bedouin sunni from the arab peninsula, he then got teleported to Galicia where the Aztec landing happened, so I know have a Sunni Empire with a very high number of event troops wrecking Europe.

TLDR: Aztec starting date, inheritance and events affecting them need fixing.

I’m pretty sure this is all working as designed; the 2.7 patch added an event chain where a Devil Spawn child (not the one produced by Unholy Impregnation, but the traditional “Supernatural” random event one) will abdicate their titles, conquer the Aztecs, and bring them back to Europe. Setting “Supernatural Events” to Unrestricted means this is much more likely to happen early in the game, as significantly more babies are given the opportunity to be demonic.

The event is written so that it won’t happen if you disable the Sunset Invasion, but it does, by design, bypass the normal timing restrictions (so you should think of those rules as establishing a timeframe for a “natural” invasion).

I think you are correct.

However, it is still a problem. A symptom of a bigger problem that is "evil" societies and the way they currently work, but an issue that needs addressing for sure.

It shouldn't be. There shouldn't be an event that circumvents a game rule. At all. Period. End of story.

The fact that said event can circumvent a game rule means that it's inherently wrong and/or bugged. At most, before the Sunset Invasion is allowed to trigger for the game rule, it should have an oversized adventurer group led by the demon spawn that has Aztec courtiers and such. After the game rule, it should be fair game.

So then you also object to Tribal Rulers being able to use “Settle Tribe” arbitrarily when they’ve selected “Restricted” Culture Conversion? Or to using favors to bypass “Restricted” interfaith marriages?

And even besides that, I would argue that the “bug”, if there is one, is just in the description of the Sunset Invasion rule not having been updated to reflect this event.

Yes. Yes, I would like that. Game rules shouldn't be circumvented by stuff in game.
