When opening a Wikipedia link, the link is just passed to the shell without any escaping, so instead of opening the browser, the game produces a message like:
sh: -c: line 0: syntax error near unexpected token `('
sh: -c: line 0: `unset LD_LIBRARY_PATH && xdg-open https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Khan_(Ilkhan)'

To reproduce, start a new game in 1337, and try to open the Wikipedia link of the ruler of the Ilkhanate.

Yep, that is probably a issue in all our newer games(?) or is it just that link?

It's not just that link, that just seemed like a good illustrative example.
In the normal game that just means you can't open any links that contain brackets, although if you manage to convince users of your mod to open links it would mean arbitrary code execution.

I don't know about the other games since I can't find anywhere they try to open links. I may just be missing the correct button though.

putting it down in my backlog, best i can do atm... if you feel that is not enough or will take too long (my backlog is a few lines now), just shout at the ck2 devs and/or support persons O;)
