I created a mercenary company as a feudal lord, thanks to the new feature introduced in Conclave.
I named my only son and heir leader of the company, and I received the alert that the game was going to end on the death of my character. My heir was now my liege.
I called my son back to court by replacing him as leader of the company, but my heir was still my liege. It was as if my son didn't even exist.
I quit the game and reloaded the save (ironman, btw). Now my son was again my heir.

Seems like a bug to me.

I have been sending away my heir without any issues previously. Are you playing as anything in particular? Do you have a save game that I could look at?

It's ironman, saved on cloud. Can I send you the save somehow?

I started as the count of Orvieto, vassal to the pope, in 1066. He starts with a 6 year old son, whom I sent away as a mercenary leader as soon as he turned 16. No heir of my dynasty pop up ensued, with the pope as my new heir.

I was able to reproduce it. But feel free to share your save and I can look at it as well.
You can find your cloud saves at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<your user id>\203770\remote\save games. Or wherever you might have Steam installed.
Just upload it to any filesharing service, Google Drive, Dropbox, Mediafire etc, and link it here.

I might have found out what causes the problem. In 1066, the Pope seems to have the law that disallows titles to pass out of the realm through inheritance (what used to be high crown authority).

A created mercenary band is outside of the realm, so when my heir became the leader of one, that law mistakenly intervened to prevent any title leaving the realm. Am I making sense?
