Last night I am playing, and I go to declare war on a neighboring independent duke. The button is greyed out, and I check the tool tip. It says I can't declare war because that duke has a hostage. You can see the tooltip in this screenshot...

So I check this out. Then I notice something, the hostage he has...is me! Somehow, I have ended up on the island of Socotra, instead of my capital.

Now I think this has to do with the fact that the Duke of Socatra was the head of an Independence faction I was part of. We fought the Independence war and won. I notice that ALL of the major players in that war are stuck in Socatra with me. King of Egypt, Petty King of Oman, etc. You can see us (I"m the King of Abyssinia) in his Court list in this screenshot...

I'm not in prison, I'm just stuck there. I seem to be able to do everything in the game except declare war on this Duke because of the hostage thing. Or at least I haven't found anything else I can't do.

Here are things I have tried...
* I've tried to lead my retinues. I can lead them, no problem, while I am leading them my location is with the army. But as soon as I resign, right back to Socatra.
* I've tried to send ships to Socatra, thinking maybe that would get me home. Can't land them there, no change.
* Someone on line suggested I had become part of his council while he was faction leader of the revolt(which I think is true) and needed to resign from council. But I can't find an option for that anywhere. You can see the list of diplomatic actions for him her...

I"m thinking this is a bug. Or maybe I am missing something? Any thoughts?

Meanwhile, I'm just vacationing in Socotra.

For reference, I have all DLC except the extra songs, Horse Lords, and Conclave. However, I disabled Sunset Invasions. Also, this is an Ironman playthrough.

Very nice find!

I tested it, and it's caused by the fact that the Revolt Leader appointed you councillor. After the revolt ends you're not moved back to your own court.

I'll file an issue on it. Thanks!

Thanks! In the end it didn't make any difference to the playthrough. At some point I think I was replaced as councillor by that Duke, because I found myself back in the capital after an hour or two of play.
